How important is spelling and punctuation to you?

I have quite a few cousins in Ohio and Kentucky... lots of you's and fixin's going on down there back in the holler.

My Grandfather's folks were from Bowling Green. Born in 1886, his language was peppered with some quaint words, like "fit" for "fought", "haint" for "ain't", "caint" for "can't" and "them for "those". He also liked to use the term "sunzabitchez". He was the light of my life and I miss him terribly.

What is it that causes this site to completely trash some sentences when apostrophes or quotation marks are used. I noticed it was particularly bad this morning in a couple of pix guys responses in the friendly politics section. Makes it really hard to read and would be a pretty good argument against proper punctuation.

I'm not sure if we are talking about the same thing, but copying and pasting Web pages(with rich text) without editing results in a passage like this:

Magic doesn稚 have a dedicated app. It instead exists as a phone number nestled inside your contact list, acting as your go-to *uy for anything (legal) you may need.

I can't say for sure, but I think that's when someone types a post in their word processor or such, then copies and pastes it onto TBN, and the "conversion?" does that.

Yes, that's what I was referring to. I'm a one eyed old coot and that sort of thing really makes it tough to read.It sure seems like the IT brain trust some where would figure out a way to fix that.

Its because TBN supports "vertical" quotes, but many other sites and word processing programs (ie: Word) use left and right quotes which then come in as gobbledygook.

It seems to me the issue could be fixed with a simple editing the PHP code...with a preg_replace string...
