How is Bird doing?

Sorry it happened, but glad the surgery was a success. Take care.

When I saw the surgeon, I asked about mowing the yard and such and was told to wait until the end of this month (8 weeks after the surgery). But I wasn't thinking and didn't tell him I use a ZTR mower; considerable difference in that and a walk behind mower. He approved my going back to driving, so common sense tells me that if it is safe for me to drive my pickup, it's got to be safe to use the ZTR, right? We're talking about small city lawns, pretty flat and level. But my wife and daughter keep insisting that I wait, and our grandson is coming to do the mowing today. How soon after bypass surgery did others get back into their old routines?

I find mowing pretty jostling. I would wait on that and let the grandson get some seat time.

I have not had surgery so no experience there.

Yeah, I'd worry about the vibration and the jostling. I have been forbidden to use power tools for a few more weeks while healing from a severe finger injury. The vibration would be counterproductive to both the bone fractures healing as well as nerve issues. I never would have thought that if they did not mention it to me. It precludes me from doing quite a few projects, at least the ones involving power tools and two hands.

Give 8 weeks Bird, its better now to go thru wait time than laying in hospital bed than starting over... trust me

Yah, take it easy. You deserve it. If you want go with them but ride in the truck and enjoy some fresh air and time together, but let someone else mow for a while longer.

Weeelllll . . . . my wife and daughter are annoyed with me, and I suppose all of you are right . . . but . . . I only intended to do a couple of small things. I took the ZTR battery out the end of the year and put it in the shop on the maintainer. So I went out and put it back in the ZTR, then decided I ought to see if it worked; it did. So I backed the ZTR out, got the Stihl trimmer out, and filled both with gas. Then I went and sat down to wait for my grandson. But when I got to thinking about what a pretty day it was, I decided I'd just do a little bit of the mowing. I had just finished our yard when the grandson arrived. So he started the trimming with the Stihl and I finished the yard next door. So far, I don't feel any worse than I did before I started this morning.

I waited 10 weeks and then, it was my tractor I used first; my ZTR actually beats me up more than the Kioti as it has no suspension. Again, unless your using a Ferris or have a great suspension seat, the car/truck usually has much greater suspension.

After I first posted this, i saw you had at it already, so just don't overdue and enjoy!

Use this as an excuse to get great suspension seats on your equipment.
