How is Bird doing?

Bird, remember in the other thread when I mentioned the Intensive Cardiac Rehab being available in your area hospititals but not in Austin. I got a e-mail from FOK this morning and a person went through it in Indiana. He was on the heart transplant list and after after going through the Intensive Cardiac Rehab program he no longer needed a transplant. Story here:
From Transplant List to Heart Disease Reversal Without Surgery

The problem with regular Cardiac Rehab is the compliance rate (between 2% and 10%) and thus repeat patients. The Intensive CR has a compliance rate of 90%.

Very interesting, Don. Of course it sounds a bit far fetched; reminds me of the miraculous cures advertised on TV by the Cancer Centers. And the fine print says something about you should not expect such results yourself. I had thought I was about through with the home health folks and would be talking to the cardiologist about a cardiac rehab facility, but I learned that they just didn't really explain to me (or to the nurse and therapist) just what the doctor ordered and that is 60 days of this, which started 2/11/2016. So I reckon I'll continue with my current physical therapist until the 11th of April at least, then see about the cardiac rehab facilities in the area. I guess my biggest problem now is feeling tired so much of the time, but it sure beats being in pain.

Did you ever think that you are trying to do too much, too soon?
You are not 20 anymore, no matter how young you think. The body does age.

Like many of us who are getting older, Bird perhaps your mind writes a few checks your body can't cash...
Slow and steady wins the race.
Really glad you're doing better.
Do you go on good walks daily?
Or do they want you only on treadmills with data recorders?

of course right now, right here, there is so much pollen coming down that maybe a few days on the treadmill
might mean less sneezing. But otherwise I hope you get out and enjoy the world.

I think I ought to be out there mowing the yard, and don't think it would hurt me at all, but the doctor says wait until the first of next month, so the next door neighbor is mowing it today. I do sometimes walk around the block; long rectangular block. I gave my treadmill to a daughter several years ago, but I do use the stationary recumbent bike a bit. I don't know if I set the resistance too high, or am just getting old, but 4 minutes of pedaling that thing at a speed of 10 to 12 mph can pretty well leave me winded.

Hey Bird
Maybe try setting resistance back down and increase your time.
I got mine when I did the knee replacements. Normally do 10 miles, about 50 minutes, almost every day. Sometimes I vary the resistance, but figure if I get a decent sweat going I'm OK, but would need to increase it to get my heart working harder, which I do check rate and BP before and after.
