How long will my new sign last?

Anything ain't nailed down is Cajun property, even more if it floatin downriver.
Anything moveable wid a Coonazz key ain't nailed down.

1st, I have not heard coonazz in a long time. Brother was in business on the res in the swamps somewhere around LaFayette for 20 years, good eats! Been to the Jazz fest in NO a few times but, LaFayette also has a music fest and given the choice, i'd go to LaFayeette.

As far a property that's not nailed down, you just described Portland Oregon. If you leave it out, it's gone by morning. And as i recently said, Portland police do not even come to your house because, they are so short on resources, better fund some new positions!

Hah. Ever been to Albuquerque? Someone even popped the trunk on my Dad's car and took the spare tire. I lost more hub caps than you can count...

" I lost more hub caps than you can count..."
I bet it was 4 per car!
Seriously though on the sign issue, if it's on the owner's property, what's to prevent having some boards laying around with nails sticking up? Throw leaves over, they wouldn't be seen (they would be felt!).
There's no law saying you can't do that. I'd wear gloves putting them together. It's not a booby trap...just some junk laying around.
A fellow I knew had parts stolen off cars he had. The thieves even had a 2x12 board across a creek to get there. Somehow someone drilled holes almost through that board all in a row almost to the ends, flipped upside down right where it was. Somehow a bunch of broken bottles ended up under that board. The weirdest thing happened...the next day board snapped, blood was everywhere and the car parts stopped getting stolen. Life is so strange sometimes.

Got a pen in my bucket of pens looks like a 40p nail came from an alarm company, says on it "if you can't nail it down protect it wid us". Fellow gave it to me said dem pens brought him lot of business.

Young fellow I know came by wid a special "security screw" told me how it came from a safe company and only safe company had de scrwdriver to take it out. Looked up, pinned pentalobal name of de head, plenty screwdriver bits for sale on line. Funnier still, zip wheel in a grinder cuts slot across head and regular screwdriver works. Sorta like dem CAT converter things on cars now, seems de sawzall from HarborJunk cuts em off 2 to a battery, and even if you don't shoplift de saw good profit to be made. Might be more profit if you swipe saw from Lows, dey don't even chase shoplifters out de door.

Ain't really much new, 30 years back was plenty fellows stealin Diesel in truckstops wid 12 volt pumps. Seen company drivers fill up and park so fellow wid pump could buy cheap from dem too. Back when gas went over buck a gallon lot of guys wid vans suckin it right out of underground tank 200 gallon at a time. Dey so smart dey never thunk how fast 100 pounds of gas + tank come forward and squish dem into dash IF dey stop quick.
Today you google for lesson on how to beat lock you lookin at den open it.

World gettin to be nasty place, just matter of time till people go to hunting down people who steal and breakin fingers and knees. Read a thing other day, bunch of farmers lookin to help meth heads, straighten up and rehab dem. I just don't see how you Re-hab somebody had no ability to begin wid.

My friend parks trailers and RV's on his lot.
The RV's have been raided for the third time to get the catalyst convertors.
Like 15 so far these last 2 months.

Thieves are very bold as he has cameras covering most angles along with signage stating so.
Also is very well lit from all angles.
Film showed the perps wearing hoodies and it took him a mere 2 mins per convertor with a helper running them back to their truck.
LEO's were called to make reports but only an answering machine on line, guess they were all out monitoring for Corona masks.

Maybe a business opportunity there, GPS trackers for catalytic convertors!
But then what about the scrap yards that are buying them to make fast $$'s.

That's the 2.7 million dollar question. The Cat thieves have been busy here as well... I wanted to bring my old truck up to my other lot but know darned well that it would be looted. I just paid to have new cats put on it 3 years ago...

Sign still there?
As a kid, to see a sign without bullet holes was unusual, now it's rare to see.
As for what is the nastiest grease-ever try that white thermal compound they use on computer chips.
Once you get it on you it's a real feat to get it all off.

Hope the sign stays though, it looks real good where it is.

As of this morning the sign is still there. Have not found nasty grease yet. I don't want to spend more on the grease than I did on the sign.

Maybe we can come up with some recipes. Start with an opened tube of cheap grease and add what? Who has not ruined clothes or gloves hooking up a PTO. Or maybe roofing tar or Black Jack? Lard? Yeah, I have too much free time on my hands.
