How many Class 1 owners had their wheels fall off?

I am questioning the torque that is required for the front and back wheels. MyTC18 calls for 33-41 ft-lbs for the front and 52-62 ft-lbs for the rear. Are the torques the same for the TC21's and TC24's ? I also use Loc-Tite on my wheel bolts.

Off the top of my head the fronts were 66lbs, and the rear's 90lbs for my TC24d.

I have not idea which is stronger, Kioti or NH, but Japan is known for quality steel works, I can't say the same about Korea.

I don't know that I could quantify a statement that says, all steel coming out of one country is good and all steel coming out of another country is bad. It sure would be an educational experience to have a knowledgeable person from the steel industry disect the two axles and give their opinion.

After recently removing and replacing a rear wheel on my JD790 (during the Mid PTO install), I noted that the wheel bolts had lock washers. Do NH's use lock washers on the wheel bolts also? I'm just curious.

My TC25D, a Class II, does not have lock washers.

I had my left front fall off at about 15 minutes. I was going to run the mower a few minutes so that I could regrease it and before I had a chance to finish that the left front fell off. I found 4 of the 5 lugnuts, put them back on and retorqued all of the wheels with the impact gun. The dealer replaced wheel, tire, lugs, and hub. I'm now at 100 hours and no wheel problems, but I did find a bolt laying on the mmm the other day. Can't find where that goes yet /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

It's been mentioned that it's a good thing car wheels don't fall off. I think these problems are all a matter of PAINT. Cars don't have paint on the hubs therefore the nuts tighten up better initially. The rim and hub doesn't have that soft layer to squeeze out. Tractors, on the other hand when new are painted everywhere and you have a layer in there between the rim and hub that could be as thick as half a mil. As soon as you move it is going to go somewhere and leave the wheels loose. Just keep checking. I wouldn,t use an impact on them just because when mine go flat I,m always away out in the field with only a socket and ratchet to get it off. Fronts usually get most flats. Haywagons are the biggest problem. Thought I,d add what I thought.

( I see loose wheel bolts are an issue on a lot of CUTs, all colors. I'm just wondering why they can't fix this? Seems to me it would be an easy fix.

i think the reason ya dont hear of it as often on big ag stuff is that often those guys have had more experience running equipment and know to check an retourque lugs when equipment is new, or whenever the wheels have been removed for service. i know i always do. when i did the brakes on my ford 8000 i had to retourque the clamp bolts on the axle 3 or 4 times before the tourqe seemed to hold steady. its not just compacts this stuff happens to, i have seen it on trucks, big wheel loaders, and especialy fullsize TLBs since they bounce alot when driven on the road. i think its just that alot of compact owners have less mechanical knowledge and experience than those with bigger ag tractors, so thus the problem shows up more often in compacts. if ya notice, many people have been attentive and retourqed the lugs and never had a problem, they caught it before it was a problem.

And I should have expected the lug bolt torque to last more than 5 hours or others to last more than 15 mins? You're durned right I do. Just because you have a "real" tractor quit belittling the ones that do not use a 100 HP tractor
