How many class 1 (TC 18,21,24) owners out there?

Just curious how many of us there are.

This is the most up to date I can figure out from looking over some recent posts.

 Based on national sales numbers, I would have expected the TC21 to have the smallest number, which it does. I would have also expected the TC24 to have been much more popular than the TC18, because the TC18 is being phased out and replaced by the new Sub-Compact next season. I guess it is popular so now I wonder why they would drop it, but maybe the little tractors are even MORE popular?

I don't see the subcompacts selling at GREATER numbers, but they might have more PROFIT. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

In the business I work in, we'll phase out something that we produce 200,000 a year on, but make $5 on each one in favor of something that we only make 50,000 units a year but make $25 profit per unit. It may be a less popular product, but our company makes more money. In our case, it backfired, because we dropped the products that we built our reputation on in favor of something new, just because it was supposedly more profitable. Will it work in New Holland's case? Time will tell...

My dealer told me over two years ago,before I bought my TC-18,that he won't stock ANY class 1's. The demand just isn't there. He has only sold a few since they were introduced." And the ladies are more comfortable mowing with a SUB-compact."(dealers quote). I looked at the subs' before I bought the 18, 8-10k for a riding lawn mower? None of them had enough ground clearance for even light field work. Over-priced ? YES,but that's where the PROFIT is. My TC-18.....would not trade it for TWO new sub-compacts STRAIGHT UP ! dass

I don't know why others bought their TC18's, but I wanted a new tractor. Once I decided to go with New Holland, I decided that the TC24 was more tractor/more money than I needed. I only have 3.6 acres. I could use the N's if I need a bigger tractor, but it seems my little TC18 has more power than the 8N! It's the perfect size/perfect power for my size property! /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Why did the others buy their TC18's over the TC21 or TC24?

My wife uses the 8N all the time. I wanted to get hydro on the TC18, and she said, "It's not a REAL tractor unless it has gears!"

Besides, if the ladies just want to mow, buy a riding mower!

I bought my TC24D after trying the TC18. I really liked the visiblilty with curved arm loader and everything else about the tractor. I tried some other brands and liked the compact size for my needs and thought it was the best built in its class. My yard is actually quite small, but we are on a private gravel road that needs maintenance and plowing and I also help out the neighbors with my current Gravleys. The only reason I went with the TC24D is more power for the snow blower in the same (almost) size tractor. Other wise I would have stayed with the TC18 and saved a few dollars. I just hope it isn't too heavy for mowing on soft ground. Now I just have to wait for delivery of the tractor and hope for snow. Before the snow, I have docks to pull, roads to grade, driveways to build, and some large rocks to move. But still need the thing delivered!!!! The wait is killing me!

I have used my TC24D for about 2 months now and have loved every minute of seat time. We are building a log home on a 7 acre wooded lot with a 2.7 acre pond in front and a stream at the back of the property. I've used the FEL many times to remove trees, etc. The back blade has been great for fine grading. I haven't yet used the rear blade, but expect to as winter arrives. I've got a 1,000 foot gravel driveway to maintain and keep open when the snow flies. I am still debating about purchasing chains for the rear turf tires. The land and drive is relatively flat.

Still Love my Mighty TC18. Bought it new in July '99 and have had zero problems.
I know I'm really late in replying to this post but it seems I don't get to the site a whole lot. I really do enjoy reading this forum!
