7:53 AM and 5:12PM gives 9 hours, 19 minutes for Ohio. I'm OK with that, especially since we're going in the right direction now.

Overcast here all day and light rain. According to Weather.com Sunrise 7:16 AM -sunset 5:08 so if I am figuring right, 9 hours and 52 minutes of so called daylight.

This is a neat site. I have the date set to Dec 20, universal time (EST+5 hours) set to solar noon for my location. Notice Maine is about centered in the daylight light band.

The data services page also has a daylight hours calculator and chart for any date 1700-2100 by US state/city location. Maine had 1 minute more daylight on Dec 20, 2014 than it did on Dec. 20, 1776. Duration of Daylight/Darkness Table for One Year
