How many eggs can a snake eat daily?

That's the way I felt. When I found the first snake skin in my barn years ago it was only about two feet long and all the mice disappeared. Then about every 6 months I would find another skin about 6 inches longer and still no mice. But now, years later, when I started finding 6'+ skins, all the mice were gone so he started eating eggs, then chicks, then turkeys.

That's when we decided it was time he retired.

I found the 5 foot snake that got away last year after I killed the 7' one and the other 5' one. He got in my chicken cage last night and ate one of my Polish chickens and scared another one to death. He was 5'7" long now. I thought that when I built this cage using 1x2 wire that the holes were too small for a snake large enough to eat a chicken to get in. The good thing is that the holes are too small for him to get out after he eats the chicken.

I guess I am going to have to wrap the whole cage with 1/2" hardware cloth and seal the holes by the metal roofing.

I was going back to my coop to check on them and saw another rat snake heading that way and he was even bigger, 6'. Sadly, I had to dispatch him before he got any of my chickens. Last year I killed a 5' and a 7' rat snake and another 5' one got away all in the same day. I have not seen another one till today and now I got 2 in one day. I wonder what makes them all come out in the same day?
