Can anyone here tell me approx how many gallons of water these might hold?
Dimensions are approx 36x116 long.
I was told they were 1000 gallons a piece but I don’t see that.

Thanks for taking the time to educate yourselves

If your dimensions are in inches, the volume is about 118,000 cu in. So it should about 500 gals if my math is correct.

But it is still early and I haven’t had my coffee yet.

There are 231 cubic inches, 3.8 liters in a gallon (or Grandnational engine).

Your 36" is probably OD and you can't count that, you need ID.

In any case, you find the volume in cubic inches.

And divide that by 231 to get gallons.

Very seldom do I get to join a math conversation, so here I go. :)

I don't know why, but finding cylinder volume is one of the few math formulas that I remember from school as a kid.

pi, times the radius-squared, times height equals the volume of a cylinder.

Just a useless addition to the conversation... a cubic foot holds about 7.5 gallons of water liquid. (7.480519, to be exact.)

More unnecessary information: If filled with water, each would weight over two tons--About 4,264 pounds.

This is only unnecessary until somebody puts a tank on a trailer behind his 35 hp tractor, and heads down a hill.

Next we can get into baffling tanks. 😀

Even more unnecessary, it would also depend where on earth it was weighed. While the mass would remain the same, the weight would vary a bit because of the fluctuations in Earth's gravity. The pull of gravity diminishes at high altitude on mountain peaks and due to the rotation of the earth centrifugal force lessens gravity at the equator.

But, does it weigh more going down the hill or going up the hill?
