How many gates on your place ?

When I can't sleep, I count gates instead of sheep.

Main drive: 2
Cattle pasture: 8
Cattle barn/corral: 7 + head lock
Hog pasture: 3
Chicken house/lot: 4
2 Garden areas: 10

34 total....most drive thru size, 8 of them walk-thru.

Goat lot, 4, 2 drive through and 2 walk through.
Farm, 1 at the road to keep people out.

5 gates on 1.2 acres and 1 gate on 44 acres, go figure.

I would have more gates if I didn't have electric fence with means to disconnect and take down where I need to get into the pastures.
I only have 10 actual gates

6 into the paddocks.
1 by the road at the bottom of the driveway.
1 at the top of the driveway.
1 by the woodshed.
1 to my neighbour's front paddock.

Beautiful place, Big Barn! One of these years, I'd like to get a fancy gate like you have at the end of the drive. For now, I just have a regular livestock gate with a Mighty Mule gate opener on it.

1 at the end of the drive.

I do. Only because 2 take a key. One is a combination lock and the others are not locked.

Due to the swimming pool, we keep our yard gates locked anytime we are not using the pool. The garden isn't locked. I also have the same key that opens a shed and garage.

I counted twenty six gates.

I try to keep the number down because 95% of the time, when animals get out, they do so at a gate. It is the weak point of the fence.
