How many hours??

I am just curious, but how many hours should I be expecting out of my CUT.. or better yet, at how many hours should I start thinking about trading in for a new one? Now I realize that is a broad question, because hours are not hours. There are hard working, logging/snow plowing/bush hogging hours, and there are easy going, lawn-mowing hours. I use my tractor rather heavily... did some logging with it, firewood business, box-blading, brush hogging, heavy loader work, etc. Right now I have 420 hours on it. How many hours are some of you seeing on your CUT's.... ? Thanks!!

You tell the hours, but not the age, but I think you can count on getting at least 4,000 hours before you'd need to rebuild or replace your tractor. With proper maintenance, most diesel tractors will have up to as much as 10,000 hours of life.

Sometimes, however, 1000 is the beginning for some needing a little more care, but in general, most people die before they need a new one unless they're working it all the time.

Many folks don't put more than 100 hours a year on their tractors, and their families can usually count on getting many years more out of them.

I've seen plenty of tractors that didn't need a thing at 5,000. They always got proper oil changes etc.

420 hours is barely broken in. Diesel engines are very tough, you should get 5,000-10,000 hours out of it easily.

Hey Brad, the answer you're looking for will come from your tractor itself. Seriously, there will be signs of when things are getting loose, hard shifting, small cracks, smoke, etc. There is no set number on hours or model year, just observe your machine for the tell-tale signs that its getting worn out. That could be 100 or 10,000 hrs, no way to predict other than looking for mechanical changes.
