How many miles on your vehicle before sell or trade?

I don't sell based on miles. I sell based on 2 things: Cost to repair vs. value/condition of the vehicle and current scrap prices.

Same here. And I suspect most people are the same way. The scale for those items on the matrix are weighted differently though depending on the individual.

I kinda like to see how many miles I can get out of one and still keep it looking and running good.

I've had an '07 Honda Ridgeline for 7 years. Had 49k when I bought it, now about 142k. It does absolutely everything I need, and then some. It's kinda ugly, but it runs great, is roomy & comfortable, and while the bed's a little short at 5', it's so versatile with the factory tie-down cleats, the two-way tailgate, and especially the trunk. Mine always has a chain saw, other miscellaneous tools, sometimes golf clubs, etc., and of course the trunk locks with the doors. I've hauled so much dirt, appliances, kayaks, furniture, mulch, bricks, and so on and so on in this thing. I bet my riding mower's been in there 30 times. Just an awesome vehicle.

That’s the first time I’ve heard some one say something good about the Honda Ridgeline. I have one too, and the only reason I bought it was because I got it for $3000 from a family member. I was skeptic, called it a city-boy half-truck, said it was ugly and I’d only drive it for a short while before trading it for an F250, but dang if this thing didn’t change my tune. It’s unibody design is super spacious, it rides great, is super practical with the two-way tail gate and the massive trunk under the bed, and at 215K miles is still very reliable and smooth as glass on the highway. It also has tons of leg room for my long legs and is more comfortable for me than my 2016 Toyota Avalon. I think I’ll drive it til it drops.

A local salesman for asphalt and aggregates has had Ridgelines. He won't buy anything else. Puts 300k on them and trades for the newest model. And beats the bag out of them. I've seen what they do, and I'm impressed.

New car for the wife, but older iron for me. Right now I have two trucks (a '12 2500HD Silverado and '03 F450 dump) that are in good shape and relatively low miles each, and a commuter car. I'll be fighting rust on the F450, but both will last as long as I want to keep them. And I do not intend on replacing them. Ever. To replace my fleet with equal or better condition/year vehicles would be just too much $$$$

The commuter is a 06 CRV. I'd like to get 300K miles out of it, then onto another. Maybe an Accord next time.

Still debating a new transmission for my 2005 pilot with 350k miles. Rest of vehicle is great.

I typically trade out of a vehicle before the warranty is up. But a little over a year ago I bought a 99 F150 4x4 extra cab lariat from a friend who had it in Fla since new.. he was going to trade it in and they offered him $1.00 for it... I told him to throw it on Craig's list for 4K and take whatever came his way from it. .. well 4 weeks later there were no takers and he had to get it out of his driveway because his HOA was going to fine him 75.00 a day for having a unregistered vehicle on the property. .. I sent him 2k for the truck.. another 500.00 to ship it to Mass.. paint, interior, misc mechanical issues, then a transmission and torque converter.. A/C clutch.. etc etc etc... It took about 6 months to get it back to 100% reliable and I'm into it now for about 11k... ( waaaay to much ) but it is and has always been rust free and it drives very nice now.. it just turned 165k ( bought it with 152k ) and I figure I will drive it until 250k or longer if it still runs good. It is a 4th or 5th car in the driveway and is the only one we take the dogs in, it's kind of nice to have something I don't really care if it gets a little dirty now and then.
