I haven't bought yet...but I can say that when I do it won't be from the closest dealer. The Kioti and Kubota dealers closest to my house are also the most expensive (five miles and fifteen miles). The dealers 40-60 miles away are all better in price (by $1500-$3000) and more flexible to deal with.

I bought from a dealer about three hundred miles away. My local dealer would not budge on price, so he lost a sale. He did not give me any problems with warantee work when I have needed it though.

3 "local" dealers within 25 miles of me, one to high, one to arrogant, and one was blue. Bought from Hopf Equipment in Huntingburg, IN. Great people, great dealership, priced right, and I know I can still talk to the guy who sold me the tractor. After 2 of them he knows my name, vehicle, and where I live. Service has been great!

First tractor I bought from them, they delivered it before I signed the papers. I had sent them deposit of 10% in cash. Bought it over the phone. Second one, they delivered it then told me when I was in the area to come in and sign them. Guess that means they trust me!

I bought my first Kubota from a dealer 60 miles away. Local dealer was a pain to deal with. Never had any service on that tractor. Bought most of my maintaince stuff from dealers as I travelled around the country in my job.
Bought my B2910 from local dealer. It's the same place that I did not buy from for the first tractor. But new owner. Price was equal to what I could get on the Internet. Payed state tax. Dealer has been great. Especially when I had some problems with the tractor during the first year. I do most of my own maintaince. But do buy parts that are needed from them. Got a card from them last week. It was a coupon for a free oil filter. Got the filter and picked up some spare pins that seem to to be always losing.
I also own a JD diesel mower. My experience with purchasing the mower was as good as my Kubota . I would not rate their service as good as my experiences at the Kubota dealer.

When I bought in 2000, my local dealer was an 80 y.o. codger, really likable old guy, but his quote was $3K more than a guy 50 mi. away so I had to go with the lower price. He retired a little over a year ago and his now 60 y.o. son finally got to take over /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif. I was talking to the son recently about a Woods BH6000 and he asked me whether I had gotten a bid from them when I bought the tractor. After I told him what had happened he said, "Dad must've figured it wrong. He was at the point that he was always figurin' things too high or too low. I wish I'd known 'cause we could'a matched the other price." Anyway, I get service locally and have a good relationship with the local guy.

Mid way between two dealers. I bought from the one who answered the phone when I called. Same dealer (Sacramento For Tractors) as Tom_M. Only I dealt with the son in the first place.
I bought new there, first service there, now get service parts there.

Although I did buy a generator from the other dealer because they carry Kubota gensets and SFT didn't (at the time). I told 'em I bought at the other dealer because they didn't answer their phone. Owner just shruged and said they do what they can. Both places are family run and only have family members as sales staff. But one manages to answer the phone.

My local dealer didn't have the tractor in stock and didn't know when they would be coming in. He suggested another dealer and I purchased from that dealer. Seems that the further you are from the dealer, the better the price. Must be the thought that they are making a sale that they wouldn't ordinarily make. Next time you go to a dealer for a quote, tell him that you live 60 or 80 miles away and see what kind of price that you get. My bet it will be a lot closer to the dealer that is truly 60 or 80 miles from where you live. It is the same way with car dealers, they always low ball the distant purchaser hoping to make a sale. In my case, the price was the same, and it was a price that I and the dealer could live with. One thing that the dealer did without my asking was to fill both sets of tires, weld on bucket hooks, and install a block heater at no extra charge. Haven't been back for service, but the send me any warranty part that I need by UPS Next Day Delivery. Can't ask for anything better. He just asked that I don't mention his name, since he doesn't like to sell outside of his territory. He is an old fashioned dealer that tries to stay on good terms with all the rest of the tractor dealers, not just the Kubota ones..

I am lucking in having several "local" dealers. I have several within 40 minutes from me. I bought from the one who gave me the best price and, also, posts his home number on his business card for help after hours. No problems yet.

I've bought from three local dealers here in Northern Illinois. They are all large dealers. John Deere, Kubota, Ford-New Holland. All three dealers have been very good. I believe the dealer is as important as the brand unless you do all your own work. I only do routine maintenance and easy repairs.
