How many operate the left/right brake pedals independantly?

When we bought our chipper/shredder, it said in the instruction book "DO NOT PLACE HEAD IN SHREDDER HOPPER".

If it was not for the warning, I would have stuck my head in...

The only time I don't use split brakes is when I have differential lock engaged. I don't use any brake pedal during differential lock. Any other time, I use split brakes since the brake pedals are on the left side on my HST tractor and very easy to operate. For those who say using differential braking with 4wd is bad, how is it different from turning a normal corner or having one wheel spin due to lost traction? It's certain that split brake steering works better with 2wd, but I just can't see how using split brakes during 4wd operation is any different than normal differential action. I'm one of those guys who splits his brakes and they stay that way even when I latch the parking brake. With my brake pedals split, only the right pedal latches down with the parking brake on my New Holland TC45D. I can always tell when my wife has been operating my tractor because she latches the brakes.

I have been using mine more since this thread started, I used them some yesterday to get unstuck (crossways in a ditch) instead of the differential lock. They worked well. I kind of got out of the habit of using them with the L3400HST since they were on the right side, but now with the Kioti they are convenient to use as they are on the left side.

i use them for plowing and tilling an for dirt work if you are in grass your yard they will tear up some dirt
