Well then right dat done there is reason for not messing with it.

Yes I think many don稚 appreciate the difference in daylight swing the more north you go. Also the difference from one edge of the time zone to the other.

North-south doesn't bother me. It's the huge east-west swing that's the kicker. All of Indiana and Michigan should be on the central time zone.

I look at it like this....

The sun should be at about 180 degrees, straight south, at noon. Here, in the summer, it isn't anywhere near that. If I look straight south at noon, it's still over to my left considerably. It doesn't hit straight south until almost 2pm. To me, that means we're two hours off of what nature intended. If you factor out daylight savings time, its still almost an hour short of noon before it's straight south. To me, that means we're in the wrong time zone.

The Amish around here do not change their time. Its a bit confusing when dealing with them if you set up an appointment.

That reminds me of a PBX networking project that a local airport spent over something like quarter of a million on putting in special fiber and equipment to interface it to the PBX's to network their PBX's across the runways, when they already had in place an ethernet network they could have easily used to connect them. I said something like why didn't you just use what you had? They said they had a government grant they needed to use.. Then they told me to shut up. I did.
