How many people have to change their clocks tonight?

/ How many people have to change their clocks tonight? #41
Does anybody really know what times it is?
Does anybody really care
About time?
If so, I can't imagine why.

Just pick a time and stick with it all year 'round.

I like the shift. I think it affects/helps us northerners more than others. Especially those that have to report to work by the clock vs the light.

What a stupid analogy. Maybe you're far enough south so the hours of darkness and sunrise/sunset times don't change that much, but here in the north it makes a big difference. If we stayed on standard time 12 months a year, the sun would rise somewhere around 4am in the summer. Thanks but no thanks.

IMHO on a 1 to 10 scale of inconvenience it ranks about a 2. I don't know why so many people get their shorts in such a twist over it.

It’s not the resetting clocks that’s a pain at least for me. It’s the getting dark an hour earlier on an already short day that really sucks. Sunset is currently about 5 and it’ll reduce to about 4.

Does anybody really know what times it is? <<<<<<The people who work for a living do.

Does anybody really care
About time?
<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<The people who work for a living do and so does the boss.

If so, I can't imagine why. <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<The people who work for a living do, and they like when it's quitting time.

Just pick a time and stick with it all year 'round.<<<<I pick daylight savings time so I can keep the daylight during daylight working time so I can do what I want to do on my time, and I'm sticking to that.......

You're on the eastern edge of the eastern time zone. Come over here to the western edge of the eastern time zone, where the sun hits high noon around 2pm every day in the summer, and the sun doesn't set until quarter till 10pm. Then it's light for another half hour. It's ridiculous. Try getting little kids to go to bed when the sun is still up.

Yes I think many don’t appreciate the difference in daylight swing the more north you go. Also the difference from one edge of the time zone to the other.

And I was walking down the street one day
A pretty lady looked at me and said her diamond watch had
stopped cold dead
And I said
Does anybody really know what time it is
I don't

As I was walking down the street one day
A man came up to me and asked me what the time was that was
on my watch, yeah
And I said
Does anybody really know what time it is
I don't

If you want more light in the morning, get up earlier.

If you want more light at night, stay up later.

Or vice versa.

But don't force it on the whole world. Pick a time, any time. But STAY there. If you look at maps of time zones, they don't make any sense. They duck and dodge around towns like gerrymandered districts. I know they were done by the railroads and things were different then. But the single best thing they could do now if they want to mess with time is to fix the Zones to more closely follow Longitudes, even if it means adjusting them a few degrees either way to avoid splitting large urban areas.

"Don't force it on the whole world" Are you implying it is just a few of us that are the problem? What latitude do you reside?

Do you understand the economics of what you are proposing? Honestly, I don't... but it seems some are having such a hard time setting your clocks twice a year. It makes sense to be productive when you don't have to pay extra for light/heating. Maybe we should alter common business open/close times instead?

What a bunch of lazy whiners! :stirthepot: We lose power several times a year. A whole lot more effort than clicking the hour button once +/-. :D
