yeap , including Black Magic (silicon based product)on the seat ,dash and (tires occasionally). Sorry fellows I don't care for Armoral... Doesn't last long enough it's water based... I have also learned the silicon based products really help reduce DRY-ROT.... on the rubber and ruberized stuff...

Frankie14001, I've waxed my JD 4300 many times, also use the car detail spray between wax jobs and Armorall on the big, fat R-4's. I've been considering a chrome vertical exhaust! By the way I do use the tractor! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I've been pondering that chromed pipe too. I think I might do it over the summer.

I am definitely a member of the waxer's club.
My first tractor was a 1962 Minneapolis Moline that I bought
in 1988 for $2100. I sold it in 1999 for $2000 when I bought
my first Deere, a 790 mfwd with gear transmission.
I had a 6 foot rhino blade that I had bought with the Minny and after I bought the 790 I cleaned the rhino blade up and
painted it JD green. I even bought a couple of generic JD decals from Valubilt to put on it. My wife said that was false advertising and I replied shucks I wasn't trying to sell it.
However, in 2003, I traded the 790 for a 4310 eHydro and
sold the rhino blade and bought the frontier blade that was
imatch compatible. I paid $400 dollars for the rhino blade in 1988 and sold it in 2003 for $250. That was 10 bucks per year.

Jack,
re:compounding plastic LX277 hood.

I just used polishing compound paste from the local auto parts store. Tried the more abrasive rubbing compound first, but it REALLY makes a scratched up mess /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif...much too abrasive for plastic....had to really work hard with the polishing compound to remove the rubbing compound scratches. With the polishing compound I can take out the great majority of light scratches and make the deeper scratches less noticeable. Afterwards, a couple of coats of wax really brings out the shine. Also, the polishing compound is good for removing oxidation from the painted metal surfaces on both the green JD and the orange 'Bota.
Don't rub too hard on the plastic parts...just use medium pressure and take your time. Be sure plastic parts are very clean before compounding else you may trap grit which will really scratch her up.
