HOW MANY SCOOPS

How many BX23 FEL buckets of dirt does a Nissan or Toyota Pick Up hold?
I'm guessing 4* Wonder how far off that is !

My Dakota with 6 1/2 foot bed holds 2 1/2 yards filled level. Bucket sizes vary, but you can probably calculate the cubic feet more or less, using lxwxh. 27 cu. ft. in a cubic yard. Your truck dealer or manual might tell you how many yards the bed holds.

Odds are that any stock 1/2 ton or less pickup filled with dirt to the volumetric capacity of the bed will be overloaded, weightwise. Even a full load of mulch pretty much flattens the springs on most of 'em, and dirt is more dense than mulch. Of course if you want get into that other thread that's running about weights and such, ignore all I have written in this paragraph.

I've never really worried about how many FEL scoops a P/U would hold, I worry more about how many SHOVEL scoops it will take to unload!! Of course if you only have the FEL end of the trip to worry about, then have your maple walnut cone while someone else unloads, no problem.

Watch the springs and don't crush the body mounts.

A couple years ago I went to a local quarry to get some gravel for my driveway. I was driving my nearly 10 year old Dodge with 200k miles for this job. They only put in 2 "scoops" of gravel but due to the size of the equipment these 2 scoops weighed 5300lbs! I got back on the scale for weigh out and said whoa! I couldn't believe they would put that kind of weight in a half ton truck. I was close to home and I made it without any damage to my truck. I could use some more gravel but this time I will tell them to watch it. I'm lucky I didn't break a leaf spring or something or have an accident driving it back.

I don't know what Maple Walnut weighs a ton!

I own a half ton and a one ton truck. I will not load over about 1200-1400 pounds in the F150, anymore is overloading when considering the weight of the driver, full fuel, bedliner, hitch and a few tool's. I will load no more than 4500-4700 pounds on my dual wheel one ton flatbed dump and that's very close to overloaded. I would be careful when loading dirt or gravel on any half ton truck. A yard of mulch weighs around 800 pound's. Dirt and gravel are much heavier. You can get 2 yards of mulch in my F150 long bed, but it is way too much weight. A 3/4 ton will handle 2 yards with ease.

Bought a load handler for my 1986 Dodge D 50 Pick Up at Wall Mart yesterday.
Tried it out this morning.
It sure beats shoveling the dirt off of the truck.
Don't know how many BX 23 loader buckets I can haul it at a time.
So far 3 buckets in the truck is working pretty good and it sure beats hauling one bucket down the hill at a time with the BX.
Only problem I ran into was I couldn't get back up the front yard hill after unloading the last pickup load of dirt.
Would be nice if the D 50 was a 4 wheel drive.
Didn't know the LOAD HANDLERS worked so well or I would have had one a long time ago!

2*I don't know If I'm overloading my truck or not because I don't know what A bx 23 loader of dirt weighs and I don't know the empty weight of my Dodge D 50. G V W is 4045 pounds.
