How many TN's ?

Re: How many TN\'s ?

My TN70S was built in November 2003, and the mid-mount remotes were definitely a cost-added option. It was originally ordered (by someone else) without a loader, though, so maybe NH automatically puts the FEL valves in the mid-mount position if you order the tractor with the loader. The TN65 that I had originally ordered (built in December 2003) came with all remotes in the back as far as I know - and I did order that one with a loader. It's a little confusing, but really not a big deal one way or another.

Re: How many TN\'s ?

After reading all the posts here regarding the location of loader valves I had to check mine out. I knew the loader quick connects were mounted right under the right side of the cab (near the step) but I wasn't sure where the valves were. I thought they were all in back but I wasn't sure. I checked today and all 4 valves are on the back of the tractor, cable controlled, the bottom 2 cable controlled from the loader joystick and the other 2 controlled by the remote levers. The joystick valves are plumbed under the tractor to the step mounted quick disconnects in rigid steel tubing that has bends to conform to the various things it has to get around. Behind the quick connects there is a large black tube about 1 1/2" in diameter that possible could be mistaken for a valve, but it appears to be just part of the quick connect mount. I'm not sure how your backhoe is mounted, but nothing on my backhoe comes within a foot of any of these valves or lines. I also have the optional front hydraulics which is just a couple of hoses quick attached to one of the rear remotes and run up to quick connects on the front loader frame. I remember when I bought my first TN, my dealer just saying I'm adding the midmount loader connections as he put it on the order sheet and this was about 3 years ago.

Re: How many TN\'s ?

That's interesting - I'm almost positive that the loader valves on mine are right behind the quick-connects near the right-hand step. I'm going to look later today to make sure.

The way the Bradco backhoe is installed, there's not much room between it and the cab. The seat and quick-mount is right up against the block where the remotes would go. In fact, the one remote that I do have in the back is mounted in the top-most position, and kind of straddles and sits on top of the backhoe mount. Definitely no room for any more remotes back there. I'm going to try and get some pictures and post them soon. If nothing else, it's really interesting to see how they engineered that backhoe mount - it's a very nice setup. The only thing that I really don't like is that the subframe stays with the tractor when the hoe is disconnected. Ground clearance is key for what I do, and losing four or five inches of GC worries me a bit. And, that subframe looks to be a *GIANT* pain to remove because the mounting hardware replaces a bunch of the tractor's original hardware.

One really nice thing about having the backhoe mounted so close to the cab is that I can operate it from inside of the cab if I really need to. I can just open up the rear window, reach over the backhoe seat, and operate the levers somewhat easily. I wouldn't do any extended work that way, but in a pinch it works.

Re: How many TN\'s ?

Here is my info.

2002 TN70D cab tractor with 16x16 manual tranny, 4wd, 3 remotes.

Farm tractor. The business is growing and selling hay.
Therefore, mainly hay equipment (4'x5' round bales).
Vermer baler, disc mower, wheel rake, tedder

Also use:
9' bison rear blade with on the fly hydraulic adjustments
8' box blade
6' medium dutybrush hog
cosmo seeder
32LA loader with quick attach
AMH Forks for loader
Quick attach bale spike for loader
Haul a dump trailer with this tractor around the property off a 2 5/16" ball mounted to a draw bar. Wired up to allow dumping from inside cab.
Old roller made from 2 concrete filled 55 gal drums
And most importantly my fuzzy cheapo seat cover.
Tires are ags. I bileve 14x24 upfront and 16x30 in the back.

You can easily have four remotes on a TN tractor. I say easily because the cab tractor comes with two powered through the joystick and space for two levers down by the 3-point control. More than that and you will need to make your own lever control location. Not trivial on a cab tractor, perhaps easier on a non cab model.
More than four remotes and you may also need to get creative with the three rods that bolt the valves togheter and the return line. The three rods can be purchased from NH in a length for four remotes but no longer. The return line is usually yellow in color and comes off the top block of the remote stack back down to the bottom.

You can use diverter valves to make the remotes go farther. I am working on adding a set of diverter valves to my rear blade to allow control of the three cylinders off one remote, selected by electric rocker switch in the cab.

As far as the loader goes, it does run off the back remotes. Ties up two. But I have a plate mounted, came with the tractor, under the right side step that has hydraulic disconnects for the loader. To remove the loader you just disconnect up under the step and do not need to pull all the hoses out from under the tractor.
Some what of a pain due to location. I end up on my hands and knees trying to clean up the disconnects or unplug them.

A man could by this L shaped plate and get some disconnects and hoses from tractor supply very easily. You can see the plate in this picture if you look close.

See picture here.

This was when I had it apart to install the third remote.

Re: How many TN\'s ?

I know it would be fun to add more remotes then 4 to the TN and I really do not see how anyone would need more then 4 on this size tractor but it is a possiblity and I remember the NH rep telling me that we could put as many on there as we want "in theory" /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I should be getting my baler tomorrow if all goes as planned. NH 575 with thrower. Later.

Re: How many TN\'s ?

I was wondering if you are able to use a 575 baler with your TN 65. I thought the recommended HP for that was around 80HP. I have a TN75 and the dealer said I should stay with the NH 565 or 570. Thanks for your help.

Re: How many TN\'s ?

Everyone I have talked to have told me the same thing I figured. The TN 65 will be able to run the 575 but will not set any speed records anytime soon. I will be picking it up tomorrow and will let everyone know later this year after I get the first cutting in. NH wants a 75pto hp tractor hooked to it so I am about 15 hp shy. I have access to larger tractors if the TN can't cut it till I can get a larger machine. I plan on getting a TL-A or TS-A next spring but need to get some things taken care of first.

Around here most of the balers are either too old or big like the 575. I have not seen any 565 or 570's around here for sale. There is an occasional 326 which is a little easier then the 575 but they are few and when I do find them they are in rough shape. Any 320 I find is usually in a auction for a reason. I had hoped to get a cheaper baler but missed my chance on a practicly new 326 for $4400.

Do you currently have a 565 or 570?

Re: How many TN\'s ?

The recommendation to run a 570 instead of a 575 makes no sense to me. They run the same plunger speed, have the same throat area, and are essentially the same baler except for the pickup width, heavy duty knotter, and a few other subtle differences. They will take the same HP to drag through the field.

Scott

would it be possible to get a picture of the rear of the tractor with the backhoe and also a shot of the 3pt setup?

Thanks
