How many TN's ?

Re: How many TN\'s ?

I think it is the fact that with the extra pickup width of the 575, some people will try to feed it more then their tractors can handle. The baler would be fine but the tractor would be having trouble trying to work all that extra hay. The other thing is the 570 is a tad narrower (as you know) and as a result lighter so it is a little easier to pull then the 575. Not much but maybe just enough for NH to warrant the different hp ratings.

Re: How many TN\'s ?

Rowski,
Yes, but how soon? I'm in Tokyo and my son as the one actually running the chisel plow for his spring break for extra $$$. I'll send the only other picture I have of the BH on the tractor I have with me. He is going down to take supplies this next weekend but the backhoe is not mounted on the tractor and he doesn't know how to hook it up. If you want a picture of the BH setting off by itself, if that helps, I can have him take a pic then.

If there are any specific questions about the NH BH hookup I can try and answer them. I've been told by serveral sources that with the TN75 there is no need for a subframe assembly that the std 3pt set up is the way it's done. (Given it's a royal PITA to mount I'll take it as another project to do later, looking into a better mounting system).

Yes that would be nice especially the 3pt setup. As you may have read in my other post. I'm looking for more pto hp than my 2120 can give. The TNA series tractor has really caught my eye. What makes it even more appealing is that I could use my 759c hoe (from my 2120) on the TNA series. You mentioned that the 3pt hoe is a pain to hook up. I found an old post in where you decribe the backhoe collapsing the clyinders during storage. Is this that makes it a pain or are there other issues? If everything is perfect how long does it take to hook up and unhook?? Do you feel the 3pt setup is strong enough??

Many thanks for your help, input, and pictures!

Re: How many TN\'s ?

I don't have a TN, but I do know that they are tough! If you haven't checked out this thread in the Safety forum, you should. It takes you to a Penn State website where they roll a TN repeatedly.

It's a VERY tough tractor and has good safety equipment that works extremely well IF PROPERLY USED.

Re: How many TN\'s ?

Rowski,
The backhoe would loose pressure from sitting upsupported and collapse onto the ground/floor of the barn, which in my mind equates to a leak of a seal or valve. Now once you get close enough to the rig and hook up the BH remotes it's nothing to get the BH backup to where it belongs using the hydraulics. On my BH the top arm of the unit has to be pinned using the eye that is on the rear frame, right below the remotes. There is very little clearance (eliminates slop) for alignment and the controls for the BH pads are not precision instruments. Anyway, I was hooking up the lower arms and bringing the top arm to the 'eye' as the first dealer (who is out of business now) instructed me to. The folks who inherited the tractor issues (yes I have many but haven't posted them) told me to hook the 'eye' up first then the lower arms. I'll try that in a couple weeks when we get back.

Re: How many TN\'s ?

Rowski,
Sorry, forgot the other two questions. I can't answer the 1 question as to how long it would take if everything was set up, because I've never been in an optimum setting. When the dealer delivered it and we did a test run it seemed to take 15 minutes or so, he had problems with aligning that 'eye' too. I've taken over 30 minutes and lot's of outbursts. I have had to have the remote flow unit replaced, the BH hydraulic lever keeps popping out and has to be prop'd in place, it hasn't really impressed me with it's digging but then again, it was the season of concrete turf (late summer). Jury is still out on the 3pt attachment, it still has a lot of play in it either moving around or when digging. I bought the BH because I didn't want another piece of equipment around to maintain, meaning a full-sized, industrial strength, CAT or JD Backhoe. Right now, I'm considering selling the BH attachment and getting a used CAT or JD and leave the tractor for tractoring. With that said I'll try a couple more times using the recommendations and fixes the 'new' NH dealer made and then pass final judgement.

Re: How many TN\'s ?

As you know I use the Woods 1050 hoe on my TN. It is a 3 pt hitch model, but I've had several sub frames on previous tractors. I can drop the 1050 in about 5 minutes and mount it in about 10 to 15 minutes. The 1050 has a rigid 3 pt setup with NO slop. The telescoping lower arms and the leveling crank on the TN make it easy to align the pins. Also the pins you pull on the lower link stabilizers on the TN to free them are much quicker than the turn buckles on the 2120. The fact that the hoe settles is no big deal. Just use slightly longer hydraulic lines so that you can hook up earlier and drop the center carriage of the backhoe on a couple of blocks. The backhoe stabilizers and bucket will allow you to move the hoe around quite easily to hook it up. I usually use a small block of wood to knock the pins on. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Thanks for your time.

My 759C settles too. I don't have a nice supper level an concrete floor. So I can never get things to line properly either. What I mean by that is is just by driving the tractor away and coming back even just five minutes things aren't lined up. For me this is not due to settling but because of my uneven ground. So for me I unhook and settle the BH to the ground. That way next time I don't get frustrated becuase the holes are so close. BTW - this is a subframe mount 759C.

Can't wait to see your quote. Before ordering if you'd like I'll take a look at it and see if there are any small options that I think you'd like. How do the new models lock the differential? Mine locks it via a rocker switch on the right side cab column with the rest of the switches. I love that as it is so easy and it locks both axles. I'm excited for you. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif
