How many tractors in your neighborhood?

Well, I live in a 248ac subdivision, split between 12 houses with various lot sizes. However, I happen to have the smallest lot at 1ac and am the only diesel tractor I know of. The lots are all wooded but mine has a large garden and creek, etc so I have a good use. Next door neighbor has a older cub cadet 22hp with a 3pt hitch and implements and thats the closest thing to a working model here. When I first brought the tractor home, I felt weird riding across my yard with the backhoe on to go dig the creek obstacles out.

Four big farmers own much of land around me and 3 of the 4 run BIG Deere and the 4th runs BIG red. Along the ridge going toward the other town has houses and most don't have tractors.

Once again this sounds familiar. I have a few acres. My neighbor has over 160ac. Most of my neighbors stick to themselves. No neighborhood parties going on here. But the day I moved my tractor here was the day many of them started waving. Whether it was another owner or someone who wanted it for something... all of a sudden people were friendly.

Around me. Six neighbors own tractors:
2 JD, 2 Kubota, 2 Kioti

But one of the John Deere owners is on a 60 acre ranch, and sold his Cab 4044R and all implements just two years ago. He turned around and bought a new 2025R with a Frontier 4' Rotary Cutter. He is 78 years old, and said all his equipment was already written off, so he downsized to reduce his capital investment. He continues to mow and maintain his ranch with that small tractor.

1 1/2 mile road with 13 neighbors. 5 has no tractor and there are 12 tractors.

There are a few around here who don't own a tractor. Most are cuts and scuts. Some larger stuff around on the bigger farms and a random assortment of full size backhoes and track hoes in various sizes.
But I would have to say that most do have some sort of tractor and the rest wish they did.

I would also estimate that about 70% are parked outside in the weather! Still can't figure out why you would spend that much money then leave it outside, often parked right next to the barn or shop.

Mine lives undercover, I work on the premise that if I look after it, it will look after me.

That LT40 is a nice machine. I just sold my LT35 hydraulic. I got a lot of use out of it for a few years and then sold it for 85% of what I paid for it. I've never had something sell so fast in my life. I had 18 folks lining up to buy it with more than a handful willing to pay cash. I'm on the fence about buying another only because I have access to a friend in the logging business with an LT70. If I didn't have that connection, I'd likely be replacing mine with an LT40.

I have no doubt I could sell mine for 50% of replacement cost after 30 years and a million bf. See ads regular on Craig's list "want to buy". Maybe at the upcoming 'pre' estate sale....ahaahhaaa
