Kinda hard to measure exactly ain't it? But I think,my ck30 kioti uses about 1 gal to one hour of pto work, bought it last fall, bet the newer epa approved motors don't do as well as the older ones,[don't seem like it to me],that would just about be par for course, would think the newer motors came about as to pollution, right?Wondering what kinda test that would be?I mean if it burns more fuel than old ones, how could that be less polluting??
My understanding is that it's because the way the dumb lower back administration measures pollution is in "part per whatever" or % of exhaust. So if you burn more fuel your % can drop, even though you pollute more.

Hi! I have some chart for diesel. A good direct injection diesel engine take about 160-210 grams by HP hour. So about 20 hp hour by gal. The fuel economy can start 180 gr HP hour at 2000 RPM 160 gr HP hour 2500 RPM and 210 gr HP hour for 3000RPM for the same engine.
Ordinary the best economy is at the maximum torque 2500 RPM. Diesel engine are honest. Low speed= low HP and low fuel need. Gas engine take a lot more gas at idle speed by HP. Good Luck Oldmech

But are you going to sleep in your bed or in the garage with the tractor?:p

there is that fact to figure in too
its a balancing act I will let you know if I ever get it figured just right LOL

On another note put the mower on for the first time today and went over to a buddies to help him out His little murray took a dump on him first use of the year went 50 ft and his hst went down smells bad.
All I got to say about my mower is WOW what a mower!!!
beats my old cub of course power wise and speed but the finish of the cut was outstanding.

I have a JD2210 that is 23hp and it cosumes around .75-.85 gal/hr at PTO speed of 2900. I have always felt this was a bit high considering I am just mowing my yard. I was kind of hoping there would be a kit for changing the gearing in the mower deck that would allow me to run a lower rpm and maintain blade speed. Anyone know if this can be done?

Also, my engine is in-direct injection. I have never heard of that for a diesel before.
