How miserable is it to use a rear mount snowblower on an open station tractor?

I have a 42" rear snowblower on my BX1500. Best attachment I've bought (so far).
With a smaller tractor, I can't rely on being able to easily plow over about 8" of snow. It depends on the kind of snow (wet, powdery, etc), but with the blower, it just doesn't matter - it'll move anything.
This solves one problem - I can almost always plow after the storm is over, when there isn't much wind.
I wear a snowmobile suit, and a hat and I wear my regular prescription glasses.
My driveway is tree-lined, so I don't need to turn the chute to avoid things.
I just pick whichever direction the wind is blowing.

It's not too bad, here's a pic from last November in Northern Wisconsin, it was -22F that day.

just get the cab tractor so you can be warm and listen to the radio while blowing snow. You definately wont regret it. You will be alot more comfortable without all the layers of clothing. Good luck on your purchase whatever you decide.

I'd vote for the cab, too, if you can afford it. Keeps age spots off your cheeks.

I wish we got some snow around here. You guys up in the great white north are so lucky. We hardly ever get more than any front wheel drive shitmobile can't handle, but they close schools and people drive like they forgot how.

Ugh. Now I'm dreading fall and winter. At least there's football.

When I had a garden tractor with a front blower, I wore my snowmobile helmet and a rain suit. Now I have a tractor and curtis cab that I put on for winter. Dad has the helmet now (and garden tractor) Haha.

Several you seem to be missing the point about not having to wear approriate winter wear when snow blowing because you have a cab...well, if you were a several hundred yards from your home and your tractor quits or gets stuck and it is really cold out there...You will regret NOT having your nice winter gear ON...:D

They teach you in avation that it's bad to survive a forced landing just to freeze to death.

No sweat!
Grab the wireless garage door opener & bail out of the tractor cab, slide down the driveway that is now slippery as an olympic bobsled run & hope the garage door opens in time to skid to a halt on the concrete floor.... Hmmm, maybe that needs a little work?

The cab is nice but as the gentleman who drives a forklift suggested going backwards gets easier with practice. Try getting on your tractor & drive up & down your driveway backwards a few times to see if the price of a front mounted blower is worth it to you.

Just a thought.
