I hate being miserable and object to it even more as I get older. A rear blower is miserably hard on the neck and the open station tractor is miserable hard on the face. How much misery can you take? How many years are you going to be miserable before your snowblowing days are over? I used to snow blow with this rig (25 years):
Someone mentioned that using a plexiglass or golf cart cover would have the problem with blowing snow sticking and I can confirm that is a problem. I would constantly have to get out and clean off the front cover.
My current rig (below) has front and rear wipers and a rear window glass heater. It has plenty of light to snowblow at night:
I like to tell people that I snow blow in shorts, sandals and T-shirt, but I don't. I do wear my pajama bottoms, winter boots and a light sweatshirt.
The cab turns what could be the miserable job that you mention, into a fun job. I snow blowed 21 times this last winter and spent mid December to mid January in Fiji while my neighbors snow blowed for me. If I only had to clean my driveway a few times, I would have a lesser rig, or just hire someone, although I found that to be a little unreliable which is why I have taken care of myself for many years.
