Kubota M7040
Per previous posts, I am considering buying a M7040 with a metal canopy. However, the barn I plan to keep the tractor in only has a vertical opening of 103". The Kubota spec's say the tractor is 97.2" tall (overall height from the ground to top of the ROPS). Does anyone know how much height the canopy will add to the top of the ROPS? Is there any flexibility or adjustment on this?

The dealers I have talked to don't seem to know, but have "guessed" anywhere from 2-4". As you can see, I don't have much room to work with.

I don't have a Kubota, but I do have a canopy. It added about six inches to the height of my tractor.

Different canopies are made differently. You will have to measure one like you want or get someone to measure theirs like the one you want. Mine just adds about two inches but others will be more like Snowridges.

My Tel-Trax fiberglass canopy mounts with u-bolts on the ROPS. It would be easily possible to slide it down so the inside of the canopy is in direct contact with the top of the ROPS. In that case it would add less than an inch to the tractor height. The underside has a layer of soft foam and the canopy has about 3/8" corrugation depth - not much thickness.

If you put a canopy on level it could add as little as an inch. Normally you want to pitch them a little high at the front tho, to channel water to the back, so Id give it around 3 or 4" total increase.

These canopies look pretty level. Most are long enough to keep the drip line away from the operator.

Works better a little high in the front. That way the runoff is behind you and you dont windblown spray of front splashes.

I've got a fiberglass canopy on my B2910. It attaches to the ROPS, and I've been able to position it so there is just enough clearance between the top of the ROPS and the underside of the canopy to prevent vibration and rattling. I'd say it adds a max of 1-2". The only reason I say 2" adn not 1" is that the top of the canpoy is ribbed to increase rigidity, so the canopy itself is a good inch thick.

As long as the canopy is wide enough to come down over the ROPS you should be able to add it with a minimal increase in height.

Here is the canopy that Bird had and the one I have now. I bought it the first of 2000 and have had it on two different tractors. It has been bent up and straightened a few times but still works. Birds was steel, mine is aluminum.

Does anyone have any experience with using "industrial tires" (I think they are called R-4's) in a farm setting? I don't think they are as tall as R-1 tires. They might fix my overall tractor height problem.
