Some things can't be measured with money, only by the smile on your face.

Be sure and subtract the cost you would pay for someone else to do the work for you or the cost of renting equipment to do the work. Not to mention the hassle of getting other peoples equipment there when you need it.

I bought my BX2200 with FEL, mower and 5ft tiller used three years ago. If I had rented equipment to do the work this little tractor has done I would have spent twice the time and more than I paid for it.
Cannot imagine not having it now.

I got a good enough deal on my tractor used I think I could sell it for enough to pay the original purchase price, all maintenance, and fuel and be money ahead. Granted I have only put about 200 hours on it. That doesn't, of course, count all the fun I've had on it... I mean "work" accomplished with it. :)

I guess I'm not sure how I would answer the question. I think my 22hp BX runs a lot cheaper than my cousin's 400 hp, 12 tired, 4wd. Totally different usage and intent, so how can you answer that?

As the old Cadillac saleman told the prospective buyer when he asked what kind of mileage the car got "Mister if you have to ask, then you cant afford it". Same goes with tractor ownership, (or boat or airplane or automobile) Fuel and lubricants cost is the least cost of ownership of anything mechanical.

I'd guest my costs may be like $5 / hr, but I am not putting on a lot of hours and bought a used machine thats still worth about what I paid. All my implements and even my trailer are used and worth what I paid or more. One thing to consider in the equation is what the alternative is. I dug a trench last year that when I priced it out it would have been $12,000 and have done dozens of other jobs. From that perspective I'm way ahead and could consider owning the tractor profitable. Plus its cheap recreation :)

Enjoy the hunt and the Victory of the find. Whatever you do DO NOT price your machine after you buy! murph 1244 these are very wise words recently regarding a buying inquiry thread. sorry guys to be the downer here on this thread...wondering how much per hr you spend on operating a purchase esp for non commercial agri tractor owners (90% ? of members here) is a complete waste of time. either you have too much time on your hands (like me responding!) asking this question rather than working your tractor, or just too academic in general...just accept & love your machine or move to one you are comfortable operating with out asking these kind of questions. apologize again for this, just had to say it & it's ok for bashing me for saying so :)

Hopefully the next one is no more than about $25/hr, excluding fuel.
The previous one worked out at about $320/hr and that includes getting back what I paid for it.

Depreciation is your major expense. On a NEW tractor-loader figure depreciation at $12-15 per hour for first 500 hours, then $10 per hour for next !,000 hours.

Depreciation is only somewhat dependent on tractor size in the 16-45 horsepower range, it is more dependent on inside/outside storage, upkeep, maintenance log, sales skills and the state of the economy when you sell.

(And, yes, my tractor resides in the humidity controlled garage. The cars live in the driveway.)

I've just started down that road with a Kioti RX6620
Can I ask what you think of your tractor and how many hrs on it so far please? Am looking at a 7620 (no T4 regs here in NZ) and am liking what I see. They are bringing one out for me to play with...er...I mean diligently evaluate, soon. Sure, I don't need 24 gears, or 76 horses, but the distributors in NZ must have made the decision there will be no 66 or 73 HP options, even though it appears to be the same engine as the USA models.
