How much grease?

That is rather bizarre. 100 pumps is at least half a tube of grease. Never heard of a zerk, even with a totally dry shaft requiring anything close to that. My concern would be for a bearing with a diaphragm to contain grease. Over greasing would damage it. Hard to imagine anyone engineering a set of bearings to require such a huge bolus of grease.

My Kubota deck took all of a 1/2 tube when new. It still needs about 5 pumps per spindle every 10 hours.

I myself like to grease till i see grease, on the other hand like loader joints and pins, I use lots of grease, I prefer pushing out all the old grease and dirt from these places. since my unit is on and off the trailer, I will pump the old dirty grease out and then head to the car wash and get the dirt off.

When I put the unit in the shop I can see if there is other problems, I can't see till the unit is clean. ie. leaks that can be traced down easier, looking at a clean tractor. before I go out to brush hog, I grease up on a creaper looking under everything.
That way I can see if there are missing pins or anything thats hanging that shouldn't be.
To me I spent good money, for this thing and need to keep it going for as long as I can. And I am quite sure you guy's did also.

Now that I finally got this new air grease gun, lubing up is so much easier.

I do know now that with the new gun, you do have to watch out how much grease is being used, because it will let you grease too much.

If those are sealed bearings, you guys should know better.

Sealed bearings are just that, they don't need greasing, and it makes no sense to grease them.

Some bearings have one side sealed and that side goes to the outside of the spindle, and they take grease, and other bearings are fully open to take grease on a regular interval.

A lot of people are just wasting grease as it gets thrown out.

Some people will even try and inject grease into the rubber shield.

To much grease is a bad thing. Cost money and collects dirt.

My rule of thumb: three pumps.

More accurate: look at the joint where the pin bridges the two parts: pump until you see a bit of grease come out.

pretty much what i do...
