How much HP?

Rick - The set up I will go with is HST (for controlled traction on the soft stuff) with FEL, rear blower, rear blade. In addition to the road, I will also have a tight driveway to deal with. The rear blade also will be be used for road grading in the spring. Only problem with plowing snow is running out of places to put it.

The concern that got me started on this thread was the issue of sinking out of sight on the soft lawn. I just ran some quick calculations (way too much time on my hands!) on weight distribution based on tire size. The compacts in the 24 hp range with a FEL actually exert less psi on the turf tires than my gravely! Even if I'm off on the calc, knowing that it is close makes me feel a little better.

BTW - St Regis Falls is about 150 miles due north of me. I went to college not too far from there. Now there might be a case for an enclosed cab - talk about cold!!!

( The elements don't bother me too much either, but there is just something about the snow coming out of the blower into your face that is unnatural . /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif Although if you'll be wearing your snowmobiling suit and a full face mask, it might not be so bad.

It still sucks! /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif Snow always finds the one spot that isn't covered, fills up your lap and then melts causing a soggy mess. I can't WAIT to thumb my nose at the elements from my heated cab next winter! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
