I'm actuallly still considering the local dealer because from what I understand warrenty work is completed on those units sold my the local dealership first ... then all others.

Addditionally I don't have a rig to haul the tractor if needed to the out of town dealership.

I feel like if I take advatage of the better price I'll loose out on timely ... if any ... local warranty work.

Rick
Go by your local dealer and discuss doing warranty work on the used tractor with the owner and / or the shop foreman. You may be surprised at what you find out. When we first moved back to the farm, I bought the first new tractor from a dealer about 90 minutes away. The local dealer did any and all work including warranty work in a timely manner even though the tractor wasn't purchased there.

All/Green Law

First thanks for all your inputs ... greatly appreciated

Green law ... Be nice to take advantage of the price you got ...
Does anyone know of any dealers that ship AND have a price similar to Green Laws quote?

i forgot to add...it is not worth $1600, one year older and 200 hours without question.
it makes no difference how it is sold. 200 hours is a used tractor.

Whats your ability to do some basic things to the unit if you bought out of town?

My answer will depend on that. (And so should yours)

When I was looking for my L3010, I took a quote sheet from a dealer who was about 20 miles away to my local dealer who was 6 miles away. I gave them the sheet so they could quote apples for apples so to speak. They where still a $1000.00 higher and the salesman gave me my sheet back and told me when I got serious to let him know and they would give me a price. I was working a bunch of overtime hours at the time and the salesman at the dealer ship 20 miles down the road offered to meet me for a test drive anytime I wanted due to my long hours. I'm still driving those extra miles to buy my Kubota filters and oil. Oh yea, they also gave me free delivery and when I had my fel and rear remote added they picked it up and returned it free of charge. I have 300+ hours and not a single problem, I'm happy with my choice of tractor and dealer.

Around me, 20 miles is closer than the "local" guy! Must be nice to have 2 choices that close.

Rick I'd drive a 100 miles beyond my local dealer he beat me up so bad on my first two tractors. If fact my second dealer told me his mark ups were extreme margins. $2300.00 on a L2600 and $1,300.00 on a ZD21. I can see some profit but the work I had to do on the three point hitch backhoe he had a subcontractor install was two weeks at my cost because of the shotty work they performed on the installation. They didn't realize I was an engineer, CWI and a certifed MHM ( Fluid Power Society) and after the first grade five bolt I found that the installation called for grade eight I tore into the whole installation. They had taken a torch to gouge out the bolt holes in the loader subframe ( substantially weakens the steel Vs drilling ) and I can go on and on with hoses and a valve that failed to go over relief that if one of the lower arms on the hitch would have failed would have caused me to be crushed against the rops. Local patronage means nothing these days, go for price and warranty in a new Tractor. That's all that counts because it's you and the machine when the newness wears off and the factory warranty runs out. Yes, I'm a little bitter toward my local dealer and I wonder how many other customers they have screwed over that didn't have my skill sets to catch them in their profit motive driven margins.
