How much room do I need.

I'm trying to clear an area for my barn. I'm looking at 30x40 or 30x48. Since I would like to get to the back side of the barn, I'm thinking of clearing around 80x70 of woods. I can butt the barn up to one side of the clearing and then have 40 or so feet to move around in. Sound ok? What would be the minimum I could clear for a 30x40.

Recommendation.... I did this when laying out my shop.

Mark locations of corners.

Drive vehicle (s) into it, out proposed doorways, turn left/right, remember if you are going to have trailers attached to do this with your full rig you expect to be using.

Park inside the layout your permanent equipment and plan where fixed items (tables, shelving, etc.) will go.

If you have to, do this not at your actual site, but where you have the open space to do this experimentation.

I was surprised how much space is required, for full convience, to drive into and around the building..

My recommendation... be very liberal.... it pays back in convience in the long run.
