How much should I charge for firewood?

Here in Western New York a face cord 4x8 x16" is sold for $70-$75.

Reason campgrounders pay so much is because of the elmerald ash borer. Moves by dead trees(firewood). people are asked not to haul firewood to different areas to keep the spread down. its going to be a nasty pest when it hits us. Say good by to ash baseball bats if/when it hits.

$300 a cord delivered is common here. The smaller the quanitity the higher the price per cubic foot is. Again, check your local classified ads.

$225+ a cord is the going rate for seasoned hardwoods here. About $160 or so for seasoned fir. That is delivered btw.

Firing up an old thread here -

I already own a really nice splitter and the only time I burn firewood is in the fire pit during the warm months. I bought the splitter, tractor, and chipper two years ago because my 2 1/2 acres is crowded with dozens of 80-foot white pine trees and they're gradually dying off, snapping, or falling over each year so I have an abundance of burnable wood right in my back yard. I'm not making any money on it but I'll never have to buy camp fire wood.

All I have is Pine, no hard wood to speak of except the Maples that are all alive and well. I've stacked and covered as much as I could over the years but my recreational burning doesn't come close to keeping up with the supply. I'd hate to see it rot outside so I'm going to give it a shot at making a few bucks over the next few years. Anyone think there's a market for cut and split Pine? No camp sites nearby but there are a few within a 30 minute drive. The local grocery stores and gas stations are getting like $5 or $6 for a very small bundle of hard wood. Anyone had any luck selling larger bundles of pine (maybe the diameter of a tire) at say $3 or $4? Are outdoor boiler owners even interested in buying Pine for their heating needs or does it burn too fast?

I'd have to say that you won't have too easy of a time selling Pine as firewood. It burns too fast and creates a lot of creosote. You may get campers to buy it, but most looking to heat with wood aren't going to want it.

Great Smoky Mtns National Park recently announced the only firewood brought into the park has to be heat treated to kill off any potential bugs.
