George, I think you must have that backwards. See my illustration . If you are going downhill with a load in the FEL, your center of gravity shifts forward and tends to lift the rear wheels. since you don't have brakes on the front and you might not be in 4WD, you could lose traction and go sailing uncontrollably down the hill. My rule with a load in the FEL is "forward-up and reverse-down." Don't you agree? /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif

Re: How much \"slip\" on your TC hydrostatic?

Jin man, your drawing is a bit inaccurate. The COG doesn't move unless the loader is raised or lowered. The weight does act directly down from the COG and going up hill means it is closer to the back tires and going down it is close to the rear.

Oh Yeah /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

But Jim please correct me if I am wrong but I think New Holland states that in order to prevent a roll over flip, go up a steep hill in reverse. I still like and find your idea better.

Re: How much \"slip\" on your TC hydrostatic?

Jim,

My dealer said the TC24D was supposed to be somewhere between 3500 and 3700 psi, mine was at about 3700 psi. As mentioned above, if this is an intermittent problem, the trick is going to be test it when there is a problem. I asked the dealer some of the things you are wondering regarding a sticking valve due to dirt, heat, etc. He said maybe, wants me to keep track.

Re: How much \"slip\" on your TC hydrostatic?

A hydro will only send so much power depending on it's design. There isn't that much difference in them from top to bottom but there is some and it is noticeable. That is where it is imperative to have a good horsepower to weight ratio to have the most optimum performance.

You are absolutely right of course. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif The CG is the same as long as you physically do not move something around on the tractor. The angle of the force of gravity on the CG is what shifts with pitch-up or pitch-down. No argument from me. I clearly used the wrong term. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Re: How much \"slip\" on your TC hydrostatic?

I've been reading the "hydro" posts that have been active lately, and with having 51 hrs on my TC40D, I have come to a conclusion/opinion, my next tractor will not be a hydro. I bought the deluxe because of the nicer looking operator platform, floor mat, tilt/telescope wheel, and the hydro so if the wife needed to use it she could with relative ease. But I am tired of the speed/power balancing act you can't do with a hydro. Either you can move along at a comfortable- productive pace and get "stuck" if you get on an incline (off the edge of the road in my case), or go where ever you want with ease, and take all day getting there. As we have all done, I have accepted the situations and deal with them, and more importantly plan for them. Otherwise I am very happy with my tractor and glad I have it, especially with the snow we have gotten this winter. I would not want to be without it and unless I can make out really well on trade, I'll never get rid of the one I have. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif
