Looking for ideas on how to stack a bunch of implements on a trailer. Trailer is a deck over 20ft flat bed with a 4 foot dove tail. a buddy is buying a 34 hp 4x4 massey with a FEL, a 5ft bush hog, 6 ft finish mower,6ft box blade and a heavy duty 5ft set of harrows. over 100 miles away. pulling it all is no problem but how do we get it all to fit? pictures of anyone with a simular load would help. have 3 weeks to figure it out. Thanks

Sounds like a real nice set of equipment.

Consider using the FEL to load all the implements toward the front of the trailer standing on end/edge and back the tractor on the trailer. If necessary chain bind the implements together for stability. As always stop and check the load/chains after a few miles.

I would say it will be a very tough fit. I would say that the tractor,FIL and harrow would be nearly 20' long . I am sure it will involve stacking one on the other, but I am not sure the best order. If you could load the bush hog or harrow on end it might help as they are not as tall as they are wide or long. Might be able to chain the finish mower to the loader bucket and get the box blade in the truck bed. That would allow you to load the bush hog first and back the tractor on and rest the harrow on the tail section of the cutter.

Get some pallets or scrap lumber, stack the brush hog on top the harrow(or viceversa) then rest the fel on top of harrow using the pallets in the critical areas and chain/strap it all down with the finish mower attached on back of the tractor. box blade in the truck and your good to go.

I did nearly the same thing bringing home a new tractor for my Mechanic. I had a 18' bumper pull and my F-250 diesel. What we did was use the FEL to up the 5' box blade and 6' grader blade in the bed of the truck. One reason I hated my old 25' GN trailer. I could never use the bed. Then on the trailer we put the 6' Caroni finish mower on the trailer and stood it up on end taking up only 1' of the trailer. We strapped that down good. Next we put the 28 HP tractor on with FEL and 6' bush hog on. It stuck out the back about 1.5' or so with the tail wheel. Strapped it all down good and made it home 75 miles with no issues.

I'm in the camp with Tungulara... Take a bunch of scrap lumber and stack it. Even if you stack the implements on edge, wood between them and straps to hold it all together will help it ride better. I'd suggest looking for BIG chunks of scrap... railroad ties, beams, poles, etc. Take a saw to cut the scrap to the sizes you need. No matter how many straps and chains you have you'll probably wish you had more.

thanks for the replies. We do have the advantage of a tractor with a fel already at the unloading destination so If we have to stack stuff behind tractor for weight distribution we can get it unloaded before getting new tractor off.

Picture this, I used to haul complete pole barn packages depending on the size of course on a flatbed. I am talking trusses, posts, all the tin and trim.

Like already mentioned, lots of straps/chains and dunnage (4x4's). Take plenty of bungee's too.

I would put the harrow on the trailer (facing forward), load the box blade (on its nose, with the 3pt frame sitting on the trailer floor) put some blocking on them and set the bushhog on top of them with the 3pt fame facing forward (pull the tail wheel if needed).

Then put the finish mower on the 3pt, drive on, set the loader on the implements (if need be) and lower the finish mower onto the dovetail.

If you need the weight different, back the tractor on with the finish mower in the bucket.

The key is twice as many chains and straps as you think you will need. I would guess that 2 chains w/binders or 3 heavy straps per implement and 4 chains for the tractor should do you.

Dont forget a strap or two for the leftover dunnage. I like the idea of bringing a saw to shorten it as needed.
