How much Turbo Boost do you run

I do not believe my 06 F250 had a wastegate, but I would only see between 22-30 psi pulling a load. I do have a light foot as diesel was $4 a gallon at the time and as we all know, farming doesn't pay!

6.0 has a variable vane turbo. Its motor is actually a International VT-365.

That is correct. Thanks Chris, could not remember the name for anything. The one bad thing about that turbo that I recall was more frequent oil changes and the recommended use of synthetic. Dirty oil killed it quick, same with carbon.

Never had a drop of syn in both mine. Change the oil ever 5K with Dello 400 or Mobil Delvac. Not a single wrench on either my 04 or 06.

You change your oil every 5k hence avoiding the extended change (7500+) interval. Oil changes at 5k in any diesel is early, but you are only doing the motor good by doing this. Not knocking you at all. I found when I switched over to synthetic in my 06 it cranked easier, warmed up faster and fuel economy increased slightly. I changed it every 7500.

I'm more curious about towing horses at 80mph...? I've hauled horses before; I do not like to go that fast with a live load.

When we took the 5th wheel to Texas two years ago, I could easily run those speeds. However, with this Cummins and 4:10 gears, I found my fuel mileage dropped off considerably above 63mph.

Nice thing about Az, NM, and Tx, was the major highways were in soooooooo much nicer shape than Calif highways...

I was running about 75-80 and pulling 20 to 22 steady PSI on the turbo.

I have thought about it but the simple fact is these trucks never leave with less then 12,000# behind them. That is towing light. Most of the time they have 16,000# or more on them. I would say I am not the norm with well over 90% of my miles towing. I would rather change it more often. Funny thing is I run Full Synthetic in my other stuff like my Nissan Titan. It tows 7,000# to 9,600# 50% of its miles so I split the difference between the normal change interval and the extended change interval.

The three 7.3L PSD's in the fleet at work all get New Holland 15W40 no less often than every 4500 miles with a 4000 mile target. Total mileage on the 3 is over 400,000 without engine problems.
