How not to grade a driveway

They would NEVER figure out how to build, and maintain a crown, with a land plane.
They won't be able to do a crown with a box blade either.
They have a lot to learn........maybe 10+ more years???

You may be right, but that seems a bit harsh.
I'm glad nobody told me that advice when I was starting out. Might have decided to hire someone instead of doing it myself.
Since you only really learn by doing, I'd never learn anything.

They do have much to learn, but if they are obviously willing to do it and to show their mistakes, they will learn. Might take them 10+ years, or maybe only 1. Everyone learns at their own pace, and by making their own mistakes.

Personally, I'd recommend a landplane to them, point them to some instructional videos, and encourage them to document their progress as they continue to learn how to use the proper tool for the job.

It is good they are trying and learning. I bought my first tractor about 12 years ago and I am positive I looked like a total idiot. I figured you just have to learn through experience, just important not to hurt yourself when learning.
