Apparently Mine does not reverse unless I unbolt the blade from the 3 pt due to some metal reflectors on the ends of the blade. (woods LRC60) At first i was bothered by this but now that I think about it I don't know how often I would use this. What about everyone else?

I have had my landscape rake for 7 years and have never turned it for reverse operation.

I've never reversed mine either. You aren't missing much. Not saying there never might come a time......... but not something I'd buy a new one over if mine didn't reverse.

If the rake is properly sized to the tractor - that is, wide enough to cover the tire tracks when indexed - there's no way to reverse it anyway. Unless you somehow reverse it before mounting it on the TPH. Otherwise, it will hit the tires when you try to spin it around.

That said, I regularly use mine with the tractor itself in reverse gear. Doing so is far less aggressive, like when cosmetic touches are needed to finish smoothing a layer of gravel or dirt.

I have the same rake and have never reversed it-the only thing I would consider it for would be "smoothing" material-as greg g posted-but I have never worked with any material that fine.

I have a Landpride HD rake and I use it most often to rake my 2 miles of forest roads to remove sticks and leaves in the fall. I reverse the blade to push the accumulated debrie off to the side as I cannot pull the tractor off the road far enough due to the trees.

Whenever the debrie accumulates to the top of the tines I need to stop and get this stuff off the road. On some sections of the road where it is wider and two passes are required, I can angle the blade and move it off to one side or the other.

I found that when I'm trying to drag a bunch of debri, grass clippings, leaves, etc to one pile, that I'll have to reverse it and push it into the pile.
The pile tends to get so tall that when I drive over it, the arms don't drop down far enough and it ends up lifting the rake and I lose the pile I was just dragging.

I find reverse to be very helpful. It is easier on my tractor, essentially because the rake is a bit oversized. It doesn't seem to load up as easily and does fine work very well.

Thanks for the replys. I am not going to worry about it.

Reversing allows for a more even surface, since the ground has less bumps for the tractor as you back up. And it helps to get in tight places where you can't pull your tractor in.
I never used for years, then the other day I needed to get a small unfinished area. It worked better than I imagined.
