How small is too small?

I would say that you should be looking at the 20-25 HP SCUT later models which can be had for as little as $5000 with fairly low hours. Prices listed doesnt mean that the seller got that price for them but it will give you a good idea of what to expect from sellers. I would say that for what you are wanting to do a Kubota BX or even one of the 7ooo series would do fine if you want a little larger size. The BX will be higher than some of the older models I think. They are just slightly larger than a large lawnmower but weigh quiet a bit more and can get FEL and backhoe on them that are fine for light weight activities like scooping poop out of the barns and since they are small, they can get into small places. A BX 25 would pull a 4 or 5 foot bushhog that would take care of those heavy task that break your lawnmower.
Check out tractorhouse.com for average ASKING prices for used and new tractors.

GAUDY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

GAUDY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hummph!!!!

Just wait til you have a parasitic infection. See who you are calling GAUDY then!!!!

And really, isn't the gaudiness just a side effect of the stains? It's not like they really have pink polka dots. Although if they did, i would love them more.

No insult intended:laughing: Just curious, and yes, the pink granules are the result of the staining process used to visualize them.

By all means go climb up on them and decide, just how big you want to manouver around your place....Most people enjoy shopping for a tractor...THEN, do you want deluxe, with bells and whistles, Hydro, or are you a gear--man?? Colors ???..

i agree.. planting in the seat and feeling the controlls is a good thing!

isn't the first part of their name ( oes)oweing to the dye/pigment used to stain them commonly?

Step #1: Hire someone to mow and clear the tall, thick brush for you on that 10 acres using his 50+hp tractor. It'll cost you several hundred bucks but once the tall weeds and thick brush are gone you can think about your new tractor-- something in the 30-35 hp (engine) range with FEL that you can use to maintain the field, not letting the weeds get more than 2-3 feet tall.

Step #2: decide whether you want to buy a new or used tractor/implements.

Step #3: go tractor shopping. Drive any tractor you find interesting to be sure it's working OK and you feel comfortable operating it.

Step #4: Make the deal.

Good luck.

Might fit your use...but I have a Kubota B7100 that I'm looking to part with not too far from you...no loader, but fwa, hydrostat, belly mower, rops, decent mechanically, and if you're in IC, am close enough i'd consider delivering it...

yup - they take up (love, philia) the red (eosin) stain in the common H (hematoxylin) and E stain used on various tissues or smears.
And they have granules full of evil toxic stuff that stains pink, so they look like they have pink spots.
They fight parasitic infections but are more commonly seem in allergic disorders.

That might be good but i really need to get a loader for the aforementioned poop and also for moving dirt / stone.
Thanks anyway!

SG - you win the brass ring- Eosin, an acidic pigment, is used in the Romanosky method of staining. So eosinophil means "eosin loving".

thanks for the advice! I checked out the local Deere dealer - the little 1 series just looked really little - I liked the 3038e and the 3032e much better size wise. I'll post a new thread under the deere forum to ask about those.
thanks!
