How smart is your dog/cat?

look for the hunting line of goldens..not the show lines. My goldens are almost red in color. were agility masters...not dog show quality. those are generally pretty dumb.

So true. My brother just HAD to have a "white" Golden, so he found a breeder who had some white goldens. He bought a male and that was the dumbest golden I think I've ever witnessed. It looked like a smaller version of a Great Pyrenees. did I mention he was duuuuuumb?

I prefer the darker red goldens.

I had a bunch of barn cats for a while, one was a small sickly male who was always getting crowded off the kibbles bowl, he kept sneaking his paw in and drag the bowl toward him then get a bite, again and again until he had his fill or until one of the bigger tom chased him off.

That thing would follow me around all day and even into the woods and come when called.

All the other cats and dogs I ever had were dumb as rocks though.

We forget how keen a cat's and dog's in particular sense of smell is. That how they recognize casual clothes from hunting or exercise clothes.
The cat can smell spam and tell it from beans.

One day about a year ago I was working removing a beaver dam from one of our creeks. I was using a chain saw and slipped in the beaver pond. I had a large gash in my leg that severed the tendon. I couldn't move my leg. Shock set in and I was incapacitated in a way I have never been before in my life. My yellow lab saw what was going on and tried to help me out of the water. She grabbed my jacket collar and pulled at me like I was one of her pups. She soon realized that I wasn't going to move. She brought me my water jug from the tractor. I couldn't believe how thoughtful she was. Then it happened. She climbed into the drivers seat and started the motor. She drove the tractor over to where I could reach the bucket and picked me up out of the water. Then she grabbed my cell phone and called 911. They airlifted both of us out. She won an award from the mayor and a gift certificate to petsmart. It was a wonderful day.

Not a problem. With that gift of gab, he could promise anything, fail to deliver and make you think you got what was promised and then some.

I'm teaching my one cat to operate my garden tractor with the bucket on it, just in case that ever happens to me! Thanks for the inspiring story, made my day, cat's day too!

My stray cats that live in the house now (cat door), ones that we have never been able to touch, come to my feet at stare at me when they want food or water. If I take a step in their direction, they rush away. They wait until I move away before getting the food.
