"if you have to shoot a miscreant be sure your account is the only one the police will be able to hear" --------and not while crossing the gate, wait 'til he's in the house or while driving away your car/tractor etc.
Better yet if he left his 'tools' behind as proof of B&E.

A buddy just inherited a nice Dewalt sawsall with big battery and spare blades.
Perp was steeling catalytic convertors (got 5) from his outside storage area.
LEO's did not want the tools.

I live in a state that has strong stand your ground and castle laws. Two or three years ago in a large city here a woman spotted her own truck, which had been stolen, as it was being driven slowly through a shopping mall parking lot. She put some holes in the truck, unfortunately missing the driver, and fortunately no hitting anyone else. The police told the newspaper the woman would not be charged for shooting her own truck (or for anything else). Courses taught by LEOs that I have taken have taught that if you have to shoot a miscreant be sure your account is the only one the police will be able to hear ("two shots in the heart" is what they teach), don't talk to the police until later when you are calm and have counsel, and it doesn't hurt at all if the deceased miscreant is found to have picked up one of your guns and put it in his pocket. Shooting requires practice, but it's fun to practice. Dry firing is important and can be done easily and conveniently. Sam Colt and John Browning made all men and women equal. No one should live in fear.

That situation would be very iffy had it gone to court!
Shooting at your own stolen truck while it was being driven in a shopping mall parking lot?
Her life was likely not in danger.

If she had killed the thief, in many states she would have been charged with murder.
If I had been on a jury, and those were the proven conditions, I likely would have been willing to vote for a murder conviction.

I am NOT an anti gun liberal,..... and I do have a permit to carry.
Shooting for other than protection of life, in a public parking lot, is 100% reckless in my opinion.

And it is possible the driver of the truck was not the thief.

Possibly not but possession is 9/10ths

That said, she should just have followed it or better yet, called the cops..... oh wait... called the social worker.

In the big cities the homeless have been ramping up their underground crime rings and black market. The social workers should take care of that problem.... oh wait... crime laws are not going to be enforced if the perp is in need or on drugs*..... we have lost our way.

I certainly agree that shooting in a parking lot is 100% reckless. Also, too many witnesses; exactly what the LEOs advise against. They want to talk to you after you have calmed down and have your attorney with you. They want all the other "witnesses" to be deceased miscreants. The LEOs say, "We're going to know this guy. He's someone we have picked up and had him convicted time after time." They don't want to ever hear that guy say another word (lie), and they advise you to make sure of that as the state will give him a free attorney if he's alive.

In our state you don't have to be defending your person, but it doesn't hurt of course. You can use any level of force needed to protect your property, and it certainly doesn't have to be on your property. About 14 years ago a pastor caught two druggies in the basement of his church. I think they were stealing copper pipes. By the time he shot them they were outside and he dropped both of them with his Ruger .357 Blackhawk through the window. Strangely, he shot one in the knee and the other in the foot but both bled out. He received an unofficial award from the state prison agency which stated how much he saved the state in corrections cost at $90 per day.

Law enforcement is fed up. So are crime victims. In this state anyone who can legally touch a gun can carry one concealed or open, except in a school or in a bar that doesn't serve any food (even pickled eggs). No permit is needed (except the Constitution). No alcohol can be consumed while carrying a gun.

Without any location as to where you are located and no links to verify any of your stories Ive seen how do you expect to be taken seriously. I know that not every cop is going to see things as you seem to think they will. You should provide some documentation to support these stories, if they are in fact real.

Good morning,

Just curious : I am interested to know the name of this State.
Could it be in US ?
From my past travels I may suggest :
South Africa or actual Brasil ?.....
Help please !
What is the most liberal State regarding to guns laws in US ?
Vermont ? Texas ?

Hi Jim,,
Yes, I have heard that most of the avocadoes industry is now located in Mexico, BTW in the hands of narco cartels.
The avocado groves in Fallbrook looks like the avocado groves in Spain. Groves hilly and harvest done by immigrant population (from Africa in Spain), including water shortages. Very soon water will become the gold of 21th century.
Phil

I heard the same thing about water, in my 1970 freshman intro to something class. I agree, 100%. According to the prof., that makes Canada the richest nation in the world?

Now, how we gonna get that water?

It feels like most governmental agencies are doing all they can to free criminals so they can spend confiscated tax revenue elsewhere than on prisons, cops, etc.?
Crime statistics are always seem to be reported as improving with the passing decades, but wont they look better when you stop arresting people for petty theft, shoplifting, recreational drug possession, etc? Law enforcement turns its head to looting, burning, assault? Reduce money spent on policing and detective work on crime? Defund the police, right?
Turn on the TV and you SEE crime committed left and right, yet we are always being told crime is down?
I bet crime is UP. Its just that some acts that were crimes are no longer prosecuted anymore. Then the “ news “ (propaganda) media can tell us “ see,,,,crime is DOWN,,,,all is well,,,, you DONT need a handgun “
I for one, don’t believe it.
As the old saying goes “ I see better than I hear “

I was a member of BMWCCA for years, huge bmw owners group, not unlike this forum, a bunch of nice folks trying to help each other out. I still have the bmw i bought 27 years ago from a 2 star general I knew, he was also a member. He left the stars on the windshield. I have seen guys snap to attention when they see it, truth. I always tell them, not me.

My wife at the time was at a stop lite and got rear ended at 45 MPH by a huge BFI garbage truck. I thought BFI stood for BIG F***ing insurance settlement but, it didn't.

Totaled the car, 633 creampuff, but very little injury. They make pretty good cars.

The insurance tried to play their games so I instantly went to the bmw club because they had a guy called an ombudsman? He collected pricing info from every member when ever they bought or sold their bmws. He built a data base. He was able to prove, through a long list of sales figures, that my car was worth much more and I got it! Thx to the ombudsman!

If you are not happy with what they offer, and it's a legitimate gripe, don't take it, stand up to them!
