How to do Undo / Unscrew this hydraulic hose

+2 on BOTH xfm's and eddie's info - I got tired of getting more frustration than progress a couple years ago, bought one of the "hydraulic" wrench sets and another, even thinner set - I've found that, between a normal combo wrench and the 2-angle thinner wrench, I can nearly always get to fittings no matter HOW much the mfg tries to keep you from it

Also, Eddie's method is necessary a lot of the time since fittings tend to end up in mid-air a lot, so using one wrench against the other is the only leverage you're gonna get... Steve

If you think that the hose is completely unscrewed from the lower broken fitting then I would try to rotate that broken fitting counterclockwise. You may just have to face facts and accept that you will have to replace that hose and just cut it. I'm sure when it was installed it was new and the rubber was softer allowing for it be installed like that. If you can rotate the fittings on both ends you could make the hose a little longer so it has a bend in the middle to help if you ever have to take it off again.

A agree loosen and turn both fittings that hose is attached to.

Lets back up. You are going to want to remake the hose and what is it a $30 hose. If it is that hard to get off i would not put it back on, chances are it is going to leak at the swivels anyway. Clean up the area, cut the hose! Then you can use any good wrench and save your money on the hydraulic wrenches. I have a good set of hydraulic wrenches, they work well on new hoses. But being so narrow, on the older hose ends the round things off.

There is nothing wrong with that hose. Why cut it off when all you have to do it unscrew it? From what I can tell, it's not even in a hard to get location. The hard to get to ones are impossible to take pictures of and you can only work on them by feel. This one is easy!!

Kind of what I thought too. If the hose is unscrewed, I would just break the lock nut loose and put a wrench on the fitting and spin it out of the hose end. I cant see the problem.

Because the hose is all of about $30, take 15 min to make and then he can use the adjustable wrench that is pictured. That way he doesn't have to take out a loan for a good set of hydraulic wrenches.

I would wrap the hose with duct tape about half way up and take a long handled pipe wrench, open the jaws a little wider than the hose and put it on like i was gonna twist the hose but instead, push down on the end of it. This hose looks like it already has a natural direction it would wants to bend and bending means getting shorter. Put a proper sized wrench (or crescent if thats all you have) on the bottom nut to hold it in the "close to right position" as you push down on the pipewrench. As the hose bends (gets shorter), ease it over the threads with the wrench. If the hose tears or does anything to make it not usuable from that, beyond what the duct tape protected it from, it needed replacing anyway.

While I'm guilty of cutting a hose to get it off because sometimes that's my only option, I would much rather spend the money on having the wrenches to do the job next time then destroying a perfectly good hose and still not having the right sized wrenches. I have also found that wrenches are not like sockets. You can get away with cheap wrenches, they work fine. Cheap sockets break really easy, but I've never had a problem with chinese wrenches. Tractor Suppply has a great selection at good prices. I've never bought any from Harbor Freight, that's just a line I refuse to cross on going cheap.

You may not want to hear this but from what I can see in the photos the by the book approach would be to lift the top cover while loosing the hose fittings.
You could very well cut the hose and get it out only to find the the new one will not bend to re-install or end up damaging the treads by crossing them.
Another option may be to cut the already damaged t-fitting to release the hose, maybe a sawsall could get in there, but then there's a risk of filings entering the sump.
