how to get my tractor from wi to ny?

I'd consider a full semi truck. I've used Jeff Foster Trucking our of superior, WI before. Is there a way to combine some of the stuff that goes in a uhaul and get it into crates or containers that will take up some extra room on the truck?

OOH - that gives me an idea - what about loading shipping containers at a rail hub and shipping them via rail or truck to your destination?

Lastly, there are hot shot haulers that do this stuff pretty regularly, but if you can find a way to put personal belongings on the flatbed, you can get it done pretty cheap.

Do you have any idea how much space her equipment would occupy, or how much it all weighs?

I'm guessing 10k to 12k in weight. If you rent say the 20' box truck that'll hold 5500lbs and can tow 7500lbs you should be able to put the attachments into the truck and the tractor on the trailer. If not you can step up to a 26' truck.

I used U-ship this summer to haul a 13,000 lb compact wheel loader from New Hampshire to Nebraska for $2300 this summer. Took about 10 days to arrive from the time I accepted the bid. The OPs load isn't that big/heavy, but he has many items which takes more space and time to load/unload. You will probably need a loading ramp at both ends for a semi.

I use the 12 foot bed car hauler. Good for carrying vans, pickup trucks, humvees, etc. Check it out.
.
Watch shipping prices. You could easily pickup a serviceable used 5K to 8K gross weight two axle flatbead tractor hauler for $1,500.00 to $2,500.00 used ready to go by simply a quick look around. WI has many such deals.
.
A cheaper newer unit in the $5K range was available from a trailer dealer in Mantowac, WI when I was there last year (bought my current 2008 Ford E-350 V8 Van (used of course) across the street at Mantowac Ford).
.
There is always a fled bed hauler around good for your application.
.
Do not let someone scare you into big bucks flushed down the hopper - when you could at least come out of the deal with a re-useable flatbed tractor hauler - 5K to 8K gross weight, two axle. Can always resell the thing after your move. Do not depreciate much if you buy a good used one.
.
Have hauled from New Jersey and Northwestern PA (Pocano Area) to Two Rivers, Wisconsin and back to home base in SW Michigan a couple of times. About 5K gross weight - tractor and two implement attachments, and cars (remember to have good plates and uptodate registration on any vehicles being hauled - unless a clear restoration). (Stolen vehicles are flowing from the NE to the MW - and the State Troopers are looking for these - will impound your vehicle until you can produce the papers - and you pay impounding, storage, and processing)

I use the U-Haul 12 foot bed car hauler. Good for carrying vans, pickup trucks, humvees, etc. Check it out.

Wow! Thank you all for the good ideas! I will spend tonite (xmas eve) going over them and coming up with a good strategy. Thing is, I could use the FEL with pallet forks to fill up a U-Haul and drive that stuff back then have a neighbor with a bobcat, take it off the U-Haul. That could leave just the TLB to be brought back to NY commercially, maybe at a lower price than with all the equipment at once. Anyway, I am so grateful for all the ideas. Merry xmas and happy holidays to all of you!!!

Thank you - you're right: I have a lot of "little" stuff that just can't be lifted into the back of a ford fiesta :) The real beast is the 84CSR whcih is really BIG, but not that heavy (maybe 800lbs?). Anyway, thanks for your comments...they all make this seem a bit more manageable...

That actually sounds like it may be a pretty decent idea. I bet a lot of the cost of your shipping is the fact that it will take up a lot of space and keep a hauler from putting more stuff on that they could make money hauling. If you can put the implements into a Uhaul and then only need the TLB moved, you could probably do that for much less. When I looked into getting a CaseIH Farmall 45 with cab and loader from MN to the Albany, NY area I was looking at about $1100 to $1200 if I recall.

This won't help one bit but just a cheerful thought by wanting to help but can't.

If there was deer hunting involved my son would probably road the tractor for you. He thinks nothing of roading his NH 80 miles round trip pulling a 10 ft. disk to cultivate 30 acers of deer plots.

Have a nice holiday season.
