How to lift safe to upright & install same?

A $100 bill delivered mine 30 miles from the dealer to my house with 3 guys to heave it up 4 stair steps to my patio and then across 40 feet of patio, heave it up over the threshold and into a walk in closet. It was money well spent. No way could I have done that even with neighbors help.

Also, I doubt you're putting yourself in the path of 500#s of weight from your lawn tractor over your head, but I could be mistaken if you lie on the floor under the mower while it's suspended by the screweye?

OK, you're crazy! A screw eye, or eye bolt is not made from metal designed for overhead lifting, and is not rated for this type of work, especially 500# or more.

I really don't think that you are right about this. An eye bolt most certainly can be used for overhead lifting (seen it done many times by professional riggers in a manufacturing environment). An improperly anchored eye bolt is dangerous, and if you are walking under any suspended load....well that's just stupidity whether you are packing or not.

Here's what I know about eyebolts: when I went to rig up a sling type lift for my boat in it's bay in my barn, I had a rigging company in Albany, NY area supply me with two very expensive bolts with swivel eyes on one end. They treated them with whatever the specific process is that allows the bolts to become hardened(?) for the purpose of lifting heavy weight from a chainfall and sling setup. The bolts go through my barn ceiling and through the gluelams that span the bay to create a suspended support structure that will allow me to lift the boat off the trailer and support it with the 2 nylon loop straps they made to order. Each chainfall can lift 2 tons. The are reasons to use the right metal to suspend heavy objects safely. I'm no expert, BUT I seek assistance from those who do rigging for a living to make sure the materials won't fail because of a weak link. YMMV.

You guys work too hard. I would have told my wife she could buy more fabric as soon as the safe was installed.... It would have been done by end of day for sure.
