To make it rain, all you have to do is get out there and start doing something that requires that it not rain until you finish.

It hadn't rained on my property for weeks. The ground has crevices in it big enough to lose a dog in, but today it rained. Once I cleaned up everyting and came inside, it stopped. Not enough to do any good, but just enough get wet.

Cliff it's been pretty dry here in Ohio also, a few short showers but no real soakings that you need for grass and veggies. I just came in from running the sprinklers in the garden cause it needed moisture bad.

We're planning a big party here the 3rd of next month and expecting over 100 folks so it'll rain that day real hard for sure. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Maybe you should plan a party if you need rain too.

We need rain bad too. If I thought it would help, I 'd be willing to wax my truck to make it rain!

Mike,

I just checked the precip totals for the month on weather.com - .59" so far - don't think that includes yesterday's shower, which was probably .25 or less. The ground is already totally dry again.

The average is 3.13" for the month. I've managed to keep the garden watered pretty well using my watering tote, but I'd be just tickled pink if we could get a good soaker.

Just watched the weather guesser on the TV. According to him, it's not officially a drought yet. ABNORMALLY DRY.... (Abby Normal? Mel Brooks.... Young Frankenstien?) /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

We're in the midst of 13 straight days without measureable precip. 1.58" behind for the month (average) and near 4"s below for the year..... And we're heading into what is NORMALLY the dry season. Corn and soybeans are starting to suffer...

I have a plan though..... Gonna start cutting hay. We have about 80 acres to lay down on the ground. If nature takes her normal course, as soon as it's ALL laying on the ground, HEAVY rains will start falling.

I saw my neighbor farmer hauling his water cannons down the road again yesterday. Were as dry here in WNY as others have mentioned here. We got 1.5 inches of rain from a T-Storm 10 days ago and other than that we've gotten nothing.

Same problem down here. No decent rain since back in May, over 5" behind for the year and no rain in sight. Probably won't get much now until Sept. Most counties have initiated a burn ban and some have initiated a fireworks ban.

Ain't that the truth. As soon as you've got the lumber yard deliver your lumber for a project - BOOM! - Thunder & storming. This is especially true depending on how unforgiving the material is to water. For instance, nice birch plywood.

I pretty much gave up on it coming when I wash the vehicles.

We're just as dry down state also. Was driving around yesterday and the corn is starting to curl it's leaves, then some fields are not as bad. I think the beans are still OK. We sure could use rain I know my water bills are not getting any lower /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

I wish someone would cut some hay so it can rain! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
