how to mount a tactical shotgun

If you are just using it for snakes, get a Taurus Judge and use .410 shells in it. You can also carry 45 colt rounds in case you need to handle something larger. It is a lot easier to carry on a tractor. Snake and rat shot is usually pretty under powered and spreads horribly that is why I don't recommend using it in most caliber handguns for snakes. Of course, follow local laws if you are leaving your property it might require you to carry a long gun instead of a handgun without a permit. Heck, you might not be able to carry either off your property without a permit or if not engaged in hunting or target shooting. I don't know...I'm not really sure what the laws are for those in GA without a CWP.

The farmer next to a friend of mine was shot and killed by a hunter/trespasser that the farmer had run off before. Since the farmer had a gun in his pickup, the hunter got off on a plea of self defense.

So, any actual mounting advice? I've the same question bit not for snakes. Back in the woods where I often am we see black bear, coyotes and am sure at some point I'll see a rabid Bigfoot. Would be nice to throw the rifle on a rack.

Why "tactical" ?

It all depends on your region.

Just search for "vertical vehicle shotgun mount" and buy whatever tickles your fancy.

The only time I've EVER saw a snake - I was over a quarter mile from the vehicle where the gun was. Killed the snake with a large "tactical stick". Much handier and a whole lot cheaper to operate. It was in full auto mode too - just keep swinging.

I know man...I think the only items I've used to kill snakes consist of a stick, a pointy stick, frog gig, rebar, knife, tractor tire, hoe, shovel, and a rock. I've not ever felt the need to blow a hole in the ground just to kill one. :D Now if it was up to my wife she would ask me to use a 120mm mortar which pretty much falls inline with her demand that I use a pulse rifle to kill spiders. I actually got in big trouble with her when I used the knife to kill one. She thought I was going to die and it was going to kill the whole family after me.

I might make a humble suggestion here. Get a big 'ol tactical stick instead of a shotgun. No CWP permits needed in any state - a whole lot easier to mount on any vehicle - always in the full auto mode - never runs out of ammo - a whole lot easier to operate - a lot less damage from a missed swing - And the BIGGIE - would give its owner the same MACHO feeling as any shotgun. Don't think so - - well, ask the Rock or Joe Don Baker in - Walking Tall.

Now - mercdv - don't you wish you would have left the "red-neck" portion of you post in - you were spot on with it.

+1
Where I live, there are lots of snakes, and a lot of them are poisonous. Water moccasins and copper heads mostly. I got a trash grabber and a machete that I mounted on the wall above the back door so that any time I receive a snake alert from the dog or the kids, I can grab it on the way and take care of business. They are never there when a snake is. The wife couldn't find her grabber to get stuff from the top shelf of the pantry so she took the snake grabber and for some reason left it in the bathroom. My nephew borrowed the machete. Or I'm already outside and There's no time to go get it. There's always a different reason. I always end up using improvised snake dispatch gear.

Last week I held one down with a push broom and lightened his load from the neck up with a cordless sawzall. That was messy.

BUT. If you were to mount a weapon of your choice on the tractor and leave it there, with the intended purpose of using while using the tractor, then (in theory) it should always be there when you need it.

I thought it was best to take it out because I didn't want anyone to take it as an insult. It was tongue in check but you know how that comes across on the internet without being able to hear my inflection and my southern accent. :D I a little redneck myself but I also live in a neighborhood with a lot of people from the city who are transplants. One of the people down the street just shot a snake with a 9mm 4 days ago. It took him 7 or 8 shots to hit it and got the neighbors all worked up. I just don't get it...lol. Now....I'd completely take a tactical shotgun to some yellow jackets...I hate those darn things. :punch:
