And of course, as long as I had this thing I felt obliged to play some. For me, this beats a day at a theme park hands down! Here is a nice view of the house that I'll never have again. You can also see that trim that will be replaced /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Here is a picture of my trusty little 790 from about 40 feet up. Looks even smaller from that height /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

And finally, here is an arial view of our porch floor. No one believes me when I say we painted it red, but as you can see it's very red! We love it. Next project, after the minibarn, is to do the porch railing. I have a whole new appreciation for people who maintain period houses with all the painting necessary. It's an incredible amount of work and all we have is the porch as the rest of the house is vinyl /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Thanks for the info, Rob. I can see the tongue and hitch in your picture. I tried Nationsrent here, but didn't see anything like the Genie on their lot. Maybe I should check another location. The closest Nationsrent to me is about 50 miles. But that's just a short drive in Texas... /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Rob...

What is the rental fee on one of these lifts? How are they rented? Daily, weekly, monthly??? Would you have price breakdown information for all three time frames?

Hi Bob, we rented this lift for $180 for 24 hours. Had intended to split it with the builder for the siding repair but that didn't work. Still, it was worth it to me as I had no other way to get my work done. They do have weekly rates but the hourly rates don't save much over the 24 hour rate. Nationsrent, United Rentals, Sunbelt and others all rent lifts and could give you pricing /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Tell me about it! We resided our 1877 farm house with vinyl too, but the front and rear porches, house corners and window trim needs paint. The double porch was built about two years ago and we have yet to put the second coat of paint on it! We did fully coat the floors already however. Some pics here in the 'House' folder.

I love the red porch! Fits your modern painted lady very well. We decided on the dark grey, due to our more subdued color scheme. I do hope to add a little red to the front turned porch posts, corbels and brackets though. Maybe we'll actually get those up this year... /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

I'd rather run for governor of California than get that high in the World. Real nice pictures though. Great job on the home also.. Gary

When I did some work in my shop (electrical conduit, etc..) and need to get up high (12-14 feet) I rented one of those sissor lifts for use on concrete. You can not bieleve the amount of time this saved.

Around here most rental yards have a weekend deal. Take it away friday after 3 pm and if back by 8 am monday with no more than 8 hrs on the clock its a one day charge. When you figure the time to pickup and deliver as well as coffee breaks, and time when the unit is not on you would need to work very hard to get 8 hrs of actual machine time on a lift in one day.

Might be worth asking about if someone local has a similar deal.

I hate heights. I can get weak in the kees just hearing someone else describe something high. I don't know which would be worse, being up on a roof where I constantly feel like I'll slide off, or being in that bucket where I'd be sure it was going to tip over. I guess I'm going to find out because I'm going to do the roof on my barn myself, and I've already decided to at least try the boom lift. But, I do know there's absolutely no way I could get up 40' in the thing.

Your "view of the house I'll never have again" is neat - looks like something out of a Harry Potter movie.
