How to properly install connecting rods and pistons on an engine TECUMSEH V-TWIN

I greet everyone, I am asking for advice. How to properly install connecting rods and pistons on an engine tecumseh OV691AE.

where should the arrows on the pistons and the marks on the connecting rods point?
have I placed them correctly? on this picture

I'm not a mechanic mattock, but my "guess" would be away from the main engine mass and towards the outside of the engine. Based on Flyerdans posted picture. Good luck with assembly!

I think if you match the index marks on the rods with the piston arrows, and install the pistons with the arrow facing correctly it will sort itself. I would peruse the book and see if there is something regarding the pistons having one arrow only --> and the other with OS-->, that might be critical.

I would guess they are to be oriented towards the outside, not towards each other.

When I was a teen a couple of neighbors and I thought we could overhaul another neighbor's 1949 Mercury flat head V8. No body told us and we were too inexperienced to know that you need to lube up all the metal to metal surfaces on the engine bottom as you install components.
In short, the engine froze up within just a few RPM and the owner had to have a professional fix what we screwed up.

After that I always used Lubriplate 105 in the white tube with the turquoise top on all the mains and rod bearings and other such metal to metal surfaces....obvously not on the valve heads and seats.....always had a machine shop do the heads anyway on larger engines.

I know that there are other lubes out there in today's market.
