How to protect the metal floor of my newdump trailer from my Bobcats metal tracks?

If you are worried about it sliding around when you move it, cross chain it front and back, tight. It won't go anywhere.

I'm assuming the 873 is tied/chained down to the trailer so you must be concerned with lateral movement? Could you put some rubberized chocks in place when driven up into the bed so that the tracks are partially on the chocks? Another thought is having a special boot(wheel clamp) made that you can easily put on and take off that would keep the tracks from sliding.

Your assumption is correct. Movement is only good once a day, usually in the morning, but I digress.

Good ideas, but I was hoping for something that would not need my attention every time I move the machine. Nor pieces I would have to keep track of. Got to much of that all ready.

Actually, I'm not that worried once she's strapped down, it's getting her there safely. Very little room on either side and if I'm not really careful lining her up, it could be bad. When adjusting position in the bed, no traction. If not COMPLETELY level, she's travels side to side. Having traction is the goal. Also, something that does not restrict the flow of materials being dumped.

I realize I gave my original post the wrong heading.

My first concern is the lateral movement while loading, with protecting the trailer floor second. The floor is going to take some abuse and the pads I put down will serve to both concerns.

Do you think if you just throw down some strips of rubber the weight of the Bobcat would hold them in place without having to attach something to the trailer bed? That way you can just toss them out to dump stuff. Anything that will give the bobcat traction is obviously going to give the load you are trying to dump more traction.

The trailer, outside of the bed, is completely covered in this stuff. Looks tough, but I'm sure the Bobcat would rip it up pretty quick.

Line x is not rhino liner and they have all types of protection available. Including industrial uses.

This page of their site actually shows a skid steer. Not sure what they did with it but they're guarantee their products and have tested it to tougher than steel.

Okay, how about two strips of 14" wide belting. Like what is used for conveyor belts turned upside down so the side with the grousers on is down, thus putting the smooth side up. Gravel pits should have some scrap belting laying around that you probably could 'liberate' for a small fee.

The rubber horse mats came to mind when I first saw this thread, and I would still consider them- cheap, removable when not wanted, and pretty much bullet proof. Bed liner would cost more.

I'd weld some small diameter round bar for the tracks to grab on. Using the conveyor or stall mats would concern me due to them hiding or sealing in water resulting in rust. The round bar will give grip to tracks and shouldn't hinder unloading much

Sounds like barn mat strips under the tracks, and 2 x 12's standing on edge along each sidewall would minimize movement, and be easily removable when carrying dumpable materials.
