I need to replace the battery in the Kioti Tractor. The Battery cables are a little correded but not that much. I can't get any sockets to fit the bolt. I don't know what the problem is, but no sockets I have metric or SAE will get a bite on the bolts (Pos and Neg) I would like to cut the bolds off somehow. My first choice would be a dermel, but afraid that might go Poof! I know(Hope) there are probably some tricks that someone might have up there sleeve. What do you think??

Jeff,

Are you using a deep socket? I need to use one when I am connecting/disconnecting the battery on my tractor.

Yes,,,deep wells, open end wrenchs, metric and SAE...The bolts are a bit rounded off, Probably what is going on.

Time for vice grips, make sure their tight before turning.

You can try a set of vicegrips.

Sorry, Murph beat me.

That much corrosion, figure on replacing the clamp. Just cut the cable. :)

using a hammer on the socket keep tapping the socket onto the nut, use a good shot of whatever pentrant you have to help, but getting it to start is half the battle, even if you twist/break off the the stud or the nut, your replacing the battery anyways, buy a new nut whan at the store.

heck, im assuming that this is a screw post terminal not a top post?? either way, tap a socket onto the nut and go for it. if its a clamp style/top post cable/connector, try using a dremel to cut the stud in between the to halfs of the connector, cover the battery to prevent sparks from possibly becoming an ignition source

I have some small gear pullers,, maybe I could get one of them on there and see what happens..
I don't think I have enought room to get in there with vice grips... but I have a good small pair...I might see if that would work....

Unhook the other end of the cables and get it out where you can work on it.
