My dealer was able to send me a schematic of the unit and it was no problem to change the seal out.

Hey there Rob2310 do you still have a picture of the schematic that you can post,This way any of us who are knowlegable in repairing stuff can have a look see what would be involved in doing our own if the need should ever arise for any of us.Thanks in advance,Larry. You can pm me as well with the schematic if you don't want to put it on here.

I've looked everywhere in my garage for the schematic for the steering unit, but I must have put it with the manual for my 2310 when I sold it. Anyways, I did find the bag which contains my old seals. The bag has a sticker which says, "Sauer-Danfoss Spare Parts." The part number on the sticker is 150L4054. There are several small O-rings, two large O-rings on one metal/rubber seal. The later was the one that was bad on my unit and apparently was the only one I changed, as the rest of the stuff in this bag still looks brand new.

Thanks for posting the seal kit make and number it might be of use to others who have problems with there's[mine's ok 1400 hrs] only 110hrs of mine.Did massey have the kit # in there parts book,I assume you bought from Massey.By the way did it involve having to take it off and do it on the bench or could you change that seal just by removing the steering wheel.Just thought I'd ask what was all involved in doing the seal change. Thanks again any more information would be appreaciated buy me and probably other Gc owners.Larry

Yes, I bought it from my Massey Dealer. I had to remove the unit and place it on a bench and pull it apart to change the main seal. I remember having a problem with several small balls coming out. That's why I had to get a schematic to figure out how all the pieces went back together.

Thanks for all the info I'am sure other gc owners are checking this out.Guess if we need a schematic hopefully we can get one from our dealer as well.Another thing anyone taking there's apart have your digital camera ready as your disassembling and take pictures hopefully nothing will fall out before you can take picture's.Otherwise we'll have to see if we can get one from others. Thanks again for all the info Rob2310.Larry

Hi guys,

My steering wheel leak is getting worse. Can anyone provide the schematic or photos? I am ready to by the kit but am nervous about the ball bearing comments made above... unless I get the schematic. I suppose it would be even better if someone has the recommended rebuild procdure from the service manual.... FYI - the p/n I got from the dealer for the rebuild kit was 79025145 for $69.43. And they said 8 out of 150 CG 23xx/24xx/26xx tractors have come back under warranty with this issue... usually from heavy guys with bad knees and they need a handle to step up. I plan on building a grab bar that connects to the 2 front end loader frame bars at some point... and that will be my handle. It really does shock me that such a great tractor has such a fragile steering design.

Hi guys,
It really does shock me that such a great tractor has such a fragile steering design.

The steering column is strong enough to do the job it was intended for.

When you don't repeatedly subjected it to the force of pulling your body up onto the tractor, it will work fine.

I have repaired steering wheels on all kinds of vehicles, including full sized trucks, that had been damaged the the same way.

Yes, MF would do it's customers a service by having a warning in the operators manual, and a placard, for those who don't consciously realize repeatedly yanking on something, will eventually loosen it up.

Unless you have a health issue, or physical disability, I don't think you really need to add grab bars. You can hold the wheel to balance yourself, as you mount the tractor. Just use your legs, not your arms. It simply requires a conscious decision, not to pull on the steering wheel.

I could write a list of things I would prefer they made stronger. But, I also understand in order for this tractor to be affordable, there is a limit. Make this part stronger, the budget for another part must be cut, or the price of the unit must be increased.

Unfortunately, no matter how strong you build something, it is still going to have a weakest point. And, someone will wish they had built that part stronger.

I have received my rebuild kit( bunch of little rubber "O" rings and washers) but need to know how to get the steering wheel off. My pullers don't fit the shape of the steering wheel and I'm in the process of making a set of pullers to work. How-ever! I thought you members might have a thought on this.
Any help will certainly be appreciated.
Oh by the way, the seal at the top of the steering control unit is leaking badly.
Perhap, like previously mentioned----the steering wheel is not a grab bar.

Awaiting your assistance and advise
Thanks
Mac Clarke

If I remember correcly, I used a Snap On 3 claw puller with a large washer that was sliced in half under the sttering wheel. The washer was placed under the steering wheel and this is were the claws on the puller were placed for leverage. It was a real pain to get off, but eventually started moving and came off. I tried hooking the claws under the plastic part of the steering wheel first and this did nothing but cause damage to the plastic. The washer I used was almost 3/16 thick and was slightly larger than the bottom of the steering wheel. Good Luck

Hi folks,

I have some new info related to the topic. After much research I found that the orbital steering motor in my 07 GC2310 TLB is likely made by Sauer-Danfoss. Berendsen Fluid Power is the Canadian distributor for Sauer-Danfoss 1-800-265-5454. They say the part number for the seal kit is $37.93 p/n 150L4054. They did caution I should check the numbers on my actual motor before ordering to be sure the kit p/n is correct because there are a few different styles of similar motors.

As an aside, attached is a photo courtesy of Mac Clarke of his kit ordered from AGCO...
