Well today was/is the first time I've had to use my PTO generator. My question is how in the heck to secure it from theft or personal injury. I'm more worried about a neighborhood kid coming by and screwing with it and getting hurt more then anything.

Any thoughts would be appreciated!

A fence with a Doberman inside it would work.

One of my international trucks was an old fire truck (pump truck). Since it would run to pump water and is a standard they welded a piece of pipe to the gear shift and made a bar that would drop onto the pipe only when in neutral. They didn't have to worry so much about someone messing with it.

As for a tractor, I'm not sure what you could do unless you have a cab you could lock. I would say it's another reason to have a stand alone generator. I assume you are home so you don't have to worry about a kid pushing the throttle wide open and causing electrical damage to your house. I guess you could make a way of locking things like the gear shift on neutral and maybe the FEL.

Good suggestion. The power is still out and I had to go to work so I turned the tractor off. The last thing I need is to get home to no power and having to bleed injectors HAHAHAHA.

You might be right about that. My German Shep was very territorial. My pitbull is territorial towards other animals. Thank goodness she seems to be good with people.

We got our first pitbull three years ago. She's a big wuss. We have had Dobermans for thirty five years now. Dobermans are all business. The house we lived in 30 years ago was robbed while we were away. They had to shoot our Doberman in the head to get through the back door. Dobermans are true blue.

Those are all great guard dogs. But my Aussies are pretty protective as well. And they're also smart enough to put more fuel in the tractor when it gets low... :D

With the neighborhood kids in mind, I can understand your concern for an active PTO running unattended. Having the tractor in a fenced in area would certainly lessen the chance of a curious little one to wander into harms way. Aside from that.....maybe a proavtive discussion with the neighborhood parents explaining to them the scenario and potential dangers involved could make a difference.
